Feeling very down. Amazing holiday booked in 6 weeks time that I’ve been saying I’ll shape up for since we booked it over a year ago. It hadn’t happened.
im a at the very top of my BMI and only short so it really shows and a classic apple shape, legs and arms fine but horrible flabby stomach and thick waist. I gym and run approx 4 times a week but It’s not made much different tbh. Is low carb / sugar my best bet ? Feel close to tears tonight. I don’t know why I can’t stick to anything.

No particular advice only to say youre not alone! I said the same thing holiday booked for a year, we go four weeks today! I'm trying saxenda (day 3) and cutting calories and being as active as possible but I feel it at 14 stone:( I'll buddy up if you fancy try and check in a couple of times a week?

I am just back from holiday and all shapes and sizes there and no one gives a dam. Sometimes when we put pressure on ourselves it's even harder to lose weight as we are more conscious of it. Drink lots of water and no eating after dinner until breakfast but really just enjoy your holidays. Think a little bit of tan always make you look slimmer so that will help.

Low carb low sugar high protein I reckon

Low carbon or low glycaemic load always helps. Can you plank at the gym? That always achieves something for me.

Just been on holiday and honestly there are so many shapes and sizes wearing bikinis. I have an old man tummy. All wrinkled with stretch marks despite having lost 8kg and I've just gone with it as there are some prefect bodies about, but mostly just normal people.

I remember on one holiday I sat there feeling awful about myself and on the next lounger a young woman with an absolutely perfect body shuffled out of her clothes, covering her tummy and clearly feeling very self conscious about ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

That was the point at which I realised it was ridiculous to give a shit about stuff like this. Feeling the sun on my body makes me happy. I’m not there to decorate the poolside and make it more attractive for other holidaymakers, I’m there to relax and enjoy myself.

Please don’t allow this to ruin your holiday. You deserve a lovely time, and your waist measurement means fuck all.

I’d love to feel like I will have a nice time regardless but I just won’t. My otherwise lovely parents started commenting on my weight when I was a slightly chubby teenager and it’s Yo Yo’d ever since
I don’t think I’ve had a single holiday since I was about 13 where I’ve not been depressed over how I’ve looked. No photos of me with my kids by the pool. I wish I was brave enough not to care or disciplined enough to do something about it but I’m just not. And two years due to covid I promised myself I would sort it and here we go again. Sorry for the self indulgent wail.
right high protein and low sugar and carb for 6 weeks it is, I can do this

No carbs, no sugar, no booze. Makes a huge difference to me. If only I could stick to it for longer than a week I'd be laughing.
