Annoyed - have put 3lb on over Jubilee weekend

Laughing at slight ridiculousness of the thread title but honestly this has annoyed me.

In my 40s, takes forever to lose weight. Have been slowly chipping away at it and after just 3 days of Jubilee eating, 3 whole pounds have piled back on.

Anyone else experience similar or empathise?

Won’t some of it just be temporary?

Intrigueddotcom · 05/06/2022 09:21

It would indicate that your diet before left you feeling deprived so you binged this weekend.

perhaps use this as opp to look at your diet pre jubilee to see how you can healthily satiate yourself

DelilahBucket · 05/06/2022 09:23

You'll probably find as your eating habits return to normal half of that will drop back off, especially if you've been drinking alcohol.

I would be so happy if this turns out to be true.... It took me almost a month to lose those 3 pounds.

Mine is up 2lb after picnic lunches and wine evenings two days on the trot. Same as you, late 40s and it goes on quickly and takes ages to come off. Straight and narrow next week and it should drop off again, hopefully!

Hmm I think Thurs and Fri I deffo 'treated myself' - booze, pizza etc, but only yesterday could really be considered a binge (Chinese takeaway, more booze, crisps - I told myself it's what the Queen would've wanted).

But I don't think I was starving myself previously - it took a month to load 3 lb.

@Antarcticant yes fingers crossed for both of us. Onwards abs upwards I guess. Just so frustrating that it can pile back on SO quickly.

Sorry - 'scuse typos. It took a month to lose 3 lb.

Your body will be holding onto more water because of the types of food you have eaten. Go back to how you’ve been eating and drinking before the jubilee it should come back off.

Agree with other posters tho if your diet is leading to a binge you may need more food!

Hwory · 05/06/2022 09:30

I very much doubt you’ve gained 3 pounds ~of fat~ in three days. You’ll have fluctuated up due to water retention etc.

its 3,500 calories in excess (of your daily requirement to maintain) per pound.

CRbear · 05/06/2022 09:32

It’s incredibly unlikely you ate 10500 calories more than you needed- I.e. over atleast 15000 calories in three days?? in which case it’s not real.

CharmingScene · 05/06/2022 09:33

@Mirrorball2022 @Hwory thank you that's very encouraging! The massive bag of crisps I ate was indeed very salty - I wonder if that hasn't helped with the fluid retention.

Mymoneydontjigglejiggle · 05/06/2022 09:35

It's bloat from the booze. I did exactly the same! Don't beat yourself OP! Keep going!

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 05/06/2022 09:35

You haven't put it back on.

To gain 3lb of fat you would need to eat more than 10,000 calories over your daily requirements. Seems unlikely. It will be water, go back to normal, drink more water than usual and weigh your self again tomorrow, most of it will be gone.

CharmingScene · 05/06/2022 09:40

@JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon @Mymoneydontjigglejiggle Thank you so much these words have cheered me up immensely.

Hwory · 05/06/2022 09:41

@CharmingScene Yup salty crisps will do it.

ive had alcohol, the majority of a big bag of Doritos and a McDonald’s over the bank holiday.

I refuse to weigh myself as I know it’s just a fluctuation. Straight back to calorie counting and I’ll weigh myself next week.

CottonSock · 05/06/2022 09:43

I'm over 4lbs up and am slightly worried I did have about an extra 20,000 calories over the week!
Oh dear. Let's hope some comes off tomorrow

StageRage · 05/06/2022 09:50

I find that a day of salty food can cause water retention the next day.

After today, lay off the crisps and takeaways.

Intrigueddotcom · 05/06/2022 10:47

What is your diet like usually?
