Six week blast - any takers?

I've been eating like a pig over the last month - not just loads of food, but also terrible junk food. I've had to take some time off exercise too. I've also been drinking like a bloody fish.

I've put on nearly a stone, I've lost a bit of toning, and I generally just feel a bit naff and flubbery.

So, I started a six week blast on Monday to get things back in order.

My aim is to lose about 10lbs (4.5kg) by Friday 1st July.

My 'blast' will entail:
i) Calorie counting so I'm not eating more than 1,200-ish per day
ii) Eating more healthy food and getting more fruit/vegetables in there
iii) No alcohol
iv) Two or three exercise classes per week

Week 1 has gone well so far - all three and a half days of it Grin
I've not exceeded 1,200 calories on any day.

I've eaten more healthy food and where I have had a 'treat', I've had it in moderation (like two biscuits rather than a whole half-pack) and I've really, really savoured it.

I haven't had an alcoholic drink (this hasn't been too hard given its been weekdays - Friday night will be the test).

I did exercise classes on Monday and Tuesday nights, and I'm booked on for military bootcamp on Saturday morning.

Anyone want to join my six week blast?

It looks gross haha but I think it’s lovely we have it with chilli instead of rice and it feels like you get way more for the same calories.

You’ve just reminded me about pinch of nom! I buy loads of recipe books then forget all about them I’m going to have to dig them out and give them a go and get out of the food rut.

I was in a food court with work today and got a Barburrito salad instead of a KFC which took every bit of willpower that I had haha it was actually really good though and probably filled me up more than the KFC would have done.

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the silence - been a really few days at work.

Friday's weigh-in didn't go all that well. It was fine but no weight off. I think it was my period. I blame my period for everything Grin

I feel like I've let things lapse a little bit of late. Nothing too major, just an extra biscuit here and there. I'm still sticking to about 1,400 calories per day but not being as strict as I was. I'm reigning things in from today and getting back under control - back to a strict 1,200 calories. I'll weight myself later this week and see how things are going.

I started a new exercise class a couple of weeks ago - weights-based circuit training. I absolutely love it and I'm really seeing a change in my body already.

How's everyone else doing?

BTW, I've not tried bulgar wheat. I can't get cous cous for love nor money (only pre-prepared stuff which I'm not a huge fan of) so I'll give bulgar wheat a go in the next few days!

I gave in and weighed myself this morning. Back to where I was pre-period.

So I'm 2.7kgs (about 6lbs) down from where I started on 26th May which is alright but I was hoping for a bit more.

I'd really like to lose a kilo this week.
Monday was a good day: About 1,150 calories, and a martial arts class which was hard as hell because only two of us showed up Grin

I should be able to be very well-behaved all week BUT I'm out for dinner on Friday. We're off to a vegan restaurant so it should be fairly easy to pick a low calorie option. There'll be booze and I don't really think I can avoid it.

I just need to do my absolute best before then and try to make up for it at the weekend.

I'll keep trying, I'll weigh in next Tuesday morning and hope for a kilo down.

What's your ambition for this week?

Hi!

I have lost 2lbs this week so I'm pleased with that after not losing anything last week, but I am noticing I am slipping into bad habits a bit in terms of not sticking to my 1200 calorie limit. I am determined to see it through, but finding each week I am making more excuses for myself.

My ambition this week is to religiously stick to my 1200 calorie limit!

Well done on 2lbs... that's brilliant. Let's keep strong for 1200 calories a day!

I weighed myself this morning and I've lost 500g (1.1lbs) since Tuesday so I'm very happy with that. I've got a night out on Friday but should be able to be good the rest of the time.

Woohoo losing 1.1lbs since Tuesday is amazing!! 🎉 I wanted to weigh myself today but think I'm going to wait until my "official" weigh-in day of next Tuesday because I have made some mistakes over the last couple of days and am 99% sure I won't have lost and don't want it to discourage me!

I slipped again yesterday - had alcohol and chocolate with some friends. Today I had a pub lunch 🙈 I find socialising the hardest - it's like my brain just switches off and I copy what other people are doing. Bought some slimfast powder and had a shake for tea and will be using Slimfast for the next week to try and get me back on track!

SexyTimeNotGenderTime · 24/06/2022 11:11

Well done for the SlimFast, I hope it gets you back on track Smile

I hear you about socialising - so hard to hang out with friends without food and alcohol. I'm off our for dinner tonight with friends but we're going for vegan food and walking there/back so it's not as bad as it could be.

Good luck over the weekend - let's check in early next week. Xx

Hi just checking in 👋

I gained a pound this week and so annoyed with myself.

I weighed myself Tuesday and saw I'd gained a pound and I've been strict ever since. I think I'm just finding it's actually really hard to stick to a calorie limit and have a social life. I want to see friends, I want to see family, and when I do that and food is involved I go OTT and have no control. I think it goes deeper for me than just having a calorie limit - maybe it's a mental thing like I can't socialise or have a good time without good food and drink. I associate having a good time with food and drink. And I'm struggling to break that, especially when my slim friends seem to manage it so easily.

Anyway - here's to another week. Hope you're doing well and being stricter than me! Xx

Hi
I'm sorry for being AWOL. I've had a family medical situation which has kept me busy and kept me away from my weight loss focus.

All is good now and I intend to pick up again on Monday. How are you doing?

OP posts:
InFiveMins · 08/07/2022 22:54

Hi! Hope all is ok? Flowers

Well I'm pleased to say that despite a couple of family events over the last week or so, I've lost 2lbs - just!!

So I think in six weeks I've lost about a stone, or thereabouts.

I'm going to keep going with it. I have a lot to lose but I feel happy to have made this start. X

SexyTimeNotGenderTime · 15/07/2022 16:02

Sorry I went AWOL – my mum was really ill with Covid and then DP broke his leg and needed tending. All on the road to recovery now and I can get back to my dieting.started a new thread - new blast, new thread and all that Grin

InFiveMins · 16/07/2022 09:46

Sorry to hear that @SexyTimeNotGenderTime, hope things start to get easier for you and hope your mum and DP are on the mend Flowers

I've stuck to the diet better this week, think I've kept within 1200 calories every day. I've lost 2lbs this week so I'm very happy with that, next weigh in will be Thursday. Don't think I have any big plans coming up so hoping the diet stays on track!!

InFiveMins · 16/07/2022 09:46

Just seen you've started a new thread I shall hop on that Grin
