Help - get me out of my weight loss rut

I was 60kg and a size 10 (5’7) my whole adult life from 18-31, whatever I ate and however much exercise I did (was generally healthy though).

After I had DC1 I never lost the last stone of baby weight and was 67kg and a 12. I’ve since had DC2 who is now 18 months and after she was born though I lost other baby weight I couldn’t get below 67kg. I stopped bf a month ago and since then have totally changed my diet - eat SO much less as don’t have the bf hunger, have cut out sweet things and now cycle to work a couple of times a week. I’m still 67kg! I don’t understand it.

I feel like my weight “set point” has now shifted from 60-67kg and my body doesn’t want to go below it. Any ideas on how to change this? Am I doomed now I’m older (I’m 35)?

ive got a big family party in a few weeks and when I stopped bf I thought I’d be able to lose at least a bit of weight before that and fit into some of my old nice dresses ☹️

Put your stats into the tdee calculator and it will work out your maintenance and cutting calories. This is to get an idea of the amount you should be eating each day. I'm 5"8" and 11 stone and my cutting is about 1600 but I actually only eat between 1200-1300 calories a day otherwise I just don't really lose. I've lost 20lbs since January and have another 7lbs to go. I also exercise every day (brisk walking for 90 minutes). It's hard I know!

Thank you. It says to lose 0.5kg/week I need to eat 1450 cals/day. For the last month I’ve been eating around 1200-1300 whereas previously it was probably more like 2000+ (and was bf, and not exercising), so it seems weird. My boobs have also massively shrunk so you’d think there would be some weight loss there!

I would give it a bit more time - if it's only been a month since you stopped bf and if you've drastically changed your diet and started exercising your body may be in shock or something! It probably needs time to recalibrate.

I understand though as I'm very impatient myself and get annoyed when the scales don't move!

Try to focus on the way eating healthily and exercising makes you feel and the benefits you gain (I know for me the mental benefits outweigh even the physical). I'm sure you will start to feel the difference in your clothes. Maybe step away from the scales for a few weeks and just concentrate on being healthy. Having a baby and breastfeeding is a huge outsource on your body and I reckon you just need to give yourself a break for a bit.
