Anyone else using Noom at the moment? How are you finding it?

Previousy used WW and lost 5st, unfortunately in the last 2 years put it al and more back on 😫I've been thinking about using Noom and watching this thread in the hope that others would comment. OP could you say what your experience of Noom has been like?

Menora · 15/05/2022 13:35

I am using Noom. It’s no use if you want to count macros which means some people won’t like it

I do like it because it’s not too restrictive. It doesn’t add back all your exercise calories. There is a coach. I have stopped doing the reading of articles now. I do feel like it helped my mindset though change from good/bad thinking and not getting upset if I go off plan. I just go back on the next day.

i started it last day of February this year and was 15st 4lb. I am now 13st 13lbs. I want to be 11st 7. It is going slowly. I am going to now get a PT to give me some kind of workout plan as I want it to move a bit faster. I feel like I needed to repair my relationship with food and my body before diving into exercise. Sometimes the reason you fail is going too hard and fast too quickly. If you have psychological issues with food, Noom is good for dealing with that

I have lost 2 stone so far. I like the articles and the group/coach. Having to read and weigh in every day keeps me on my toes and reminds me to watch my food IYSWIM. I find it works well for me but I don’t record all the calories I eat. Helped me develop other new strategies and stop black/white thinking. I started with a 2 week free trial.

@Menora @AdriannaP Congratulations on your weight loss and thanks for advising of your experience. I think where I've gone wrong in the past is that I have never learned to understand my relationship with food, so i think Noom may be a good place to restart my journey.

Honestly this is half the battle. I am a binge eater. I can’t say I won’t do it again but I feel more confident about controlling it, and also not letting the guilt overwhelm me.

no Food is ‘bad’ it’s just you should eat less of it. That’s helped a lot

ChampagneCommunist · 15/05/2022 21:56

I'm using it and like it. Edging towards my first stone gone.

I have found it useful in understanding more about my eating habits,

I do find it hard to stick to 1300 calories per day and don't always succeed

Menora · 15/05/2022 22:14

1300 must be if you said you want to lose 2lb a week at the fast speed?
I also do find those days hard. I know my TDEE is higher so I feel flexible with it if I go over some days. 1200-1300 is somewhat unrealistic if you are doing exercise too.

Not fast, that takes me to November to reach my goal.

Wish I was loosing 2lb a week; have stayed the same for 2 weeks now

Menora · 16/05/2022 13:48

Mine is on fast but still September! I keep hitting plateaus but they aren’t longer than 3 weeks

ilovetomatoes · 17/05/2022 22:50

Also using it and enjoying it. I think slowly is the key. I did fast 800 and lost 1.5 stone really quickly but out even more back on because I just can’t eat that. I need carbs. Noom is making me think differently.

Hi all

Hope its ok to join you. I'm also doing Noom, 2.5 weeks in this time. I did it about 18 months ago for several months and lost lots of weight, but then lost interest :(. In the meantime I think the app, and the food logging has improved alot - last time it was very USA focussed and a right palaver to log things.

I'm pleased at my progress this time, I've also used it as a prompt to join the local gym and keep going. Drinking lots of water has a big impact on how hungry I am I discover!

Glad to have found you all, how are you doing now?
