Hello,

I have a holiday coming up departing on 13th July and would love to lose a stone (or close to) for this.

I'm currently 13st one exactly, 28yo, 5ft 6 and it just seems impossible to do ☹️

I'm undecided if I should do calorie counting, join slimming world on a short term basis (I wouldn't do it longer term) or just healthy eating.

I have little faith that healthy eating alone will shift the weight.

I don't want to go on holiday abroad (my first one in 5 years) feeling like this 😭

I don't want to spend the whole holiday covering up myself or do I just follow a better routine?
Has anyone tried this? Cutting down on the white bread (my downfall) and pack of sweets an evening, sugary coffees, little water etc.

I don't have a bad diet but I'm partial to a sweet treat.. I have no excuse to not do more exercise either.

Any tips for adopting a better food plan and eating better?
Thank you!

Hi I'm also trying to lose weight for my holiday at end of July, I've been told by so many people that the best sustainable way is calorie deficit but I'm no good at counting calories so I've been having slimming shakes for Breakfast and lunch then eating a healthy meal for tea usually recipes from pinch of nom website, I've also joined the gym which is something I've not done in years, so you could maybe have a look at that website for some meal ideas and drink plenty water, good luck on your journey x

Low carb bootcamp? There's quite a lot of us doing it over on that thread.

I’ve just done the fast800 keto book and lost 10lbs in the 21 days. Fairly easy to do. Only had 10lbs to lose too!

I lost weight super fast on OMAD but it is not sustainable long term. Perfect for a holiday. I also gave myself weekends off

Whenever I need to shift some weight I find if I give up wheat - pasta, bread, biscuits etc, it does the job. Can normally see a visible difference in about a week. I know I don’t process wheat well, but like you really like bread 😬.

I also restrict my intake of red meat, and stick to fish and some chicken. Just try and eat as naturally as possible would be my advice, so no pre-packaged/convenience meals. So lots of stirfrys with rice. Homemade curries are quite good with poppadoms.

if you need a sweet treat try and restrict it to a couple of pieces of dark chocolate. Good luck Op. Hope you have a fab holiday!

I did exactly this, but gave myself 3 months and lost 1.5 stone. I calorie counted and joined a gym (£15 a month) and ended up doing 5 classes a week.
I cut down sugary coffees to just one per day (and actually enjoyed it much more, because it was like a treat I looked forward to). I cut portion sizes. I did 16:8 Intermittent Fasting - so had only water from 7pm until 11am the next day. Then 2 meals. Lunch after the gym was fat free greek yoghurt with granola, berries and seeds. A normal dinner of whatever I’d usually cook for the family, but a sensible portion. Once or twice a week some chocolate or a dessert. It sounds tough, but once you start, you get used to it, I found I actually wasn’t hungry. I lost about 2lbs per week.

Good luck!

I've lost 4kg since beginning of march by literally just watching what I eat to a (very moderate) calorie deficit. That's about 9lb.

It's perfectly doable but, will you actually be happy at that goal, or just think now that you will be?

Harrysmummy246 · 09/05/2022 19:18

PS, I went on holiday before I actually managed to get my act together. Almost exactly 13 stone, 5ft7(8 on a very good day) and just turned 40. I wore my bikini etc and just got on with it. I am most definitely in better shape now but I didn't want to spend the time with Christmas and said birthday not eating things so it got put off til we got back.

I've lost 5kg on Noom. It's working well for me and unlike fasting I can actually sustain this.
