Anyone tried 20:4 fasting-how'd it go?

I have been doing 16:8 for a long time now and it has been easy and seems to help me maintain but not loose.

My friend has been fasting all day then eating an evening meal with pudding and says she feels fine.

I am considering it because my willpower is exhausted.

Bit worried I'll fast all day then consume the kitchen Blush

What do people think?

I wouldn’t say it sounds necessary or particularly healthy. How long have you been doing 16:8? What’s your current weight and target weight?
One of the main reasons to fast is to allow your digestive system a break, to start repairing cells, and avoid keeping it in a constant state of working. I believe it’s recommended to do 14-16 hours, so 20 hours is very extreme. If you’re not losing weight, there are other ways, rather than restricting your timing even more.

How many calories are you eating currently? I would think it would be healthier to cut down calories a little, or up your exercise, because ultimately by shortening your eating window, that’s what you’d be doing. So why not just cut the calories but keep the window the same?

I think it depends whether you're going to eat one or two meals in your four-hour window. If you're only planning to eat one meal a day then Dr Mindy Pelz recommends alternating lunch and dinner so it would be a 16-hour fast followed by a 30-hour fast. She also recommends having two or three meals one day a week. Otherwise one meal a day fasting (OMAD) is prone to work at first but then weight loss stops.
