Saxenda- how much did it cost you over time and how much did you lose?

Seriously considering this now.

I know it's around £50 a pen that lasts around a week (after the first few weeks) So how long did you take it for and how much do you lose.

Looking for 3 stone weight lost.

Thanks 😊

Bump cos I’m interested too…

uggmum · 24/04/2022 08:29

On Facebook there is a private saxenda support group. It has some really positive stories with lots of good advice.

There is also a thread on here with lots of positive contributions. So worth a search. (Sorry I am rubbish with links)

Hubbie lost 1.5stone in 3.5 weeks, he’s just stopped taking it now… he bought two pens and that lasted 3.5 weeks… he’s stopped as realistically the cost can get out do control. He has changed his eating habits and is doing exercise and the weight is still coming off without Saxenda. It’s just breaking the cycle initially.

I have read about this previously as a friend of mine wanted to take it to help with weight loss. On the official Saxenda website it actually said that Sexanda may possibly cause thyroid cancer and that in tests of the product some rats had developed thyroid cancer. That was enough to put her off. I'm not saying don't take it but please just do your research x

As @Riddlediddle said it is worth reading up on everything. It’s also not suitable for everyone- do research before you think about going ahead. It’s also not a long term solution.

I can only afford 1.2mg a day so am going to use it until I've lost a stone then try to do without. I'm also taking glucommanan capsules which help with appetite. I find these are really helping me not feel empty all the time. The Saxenda helps resist the sugar cravings, but the physical empty stomach sensations are still there without the glucommanan.

Vidax · 24/04/2022 09:22

How does the glucommanan work? Where did you get it, how much?

Saxendacis too expensive

cherrypiepie · 24/04/2022 09:27

Thanks everyone. Some interesting ideas. Especially the sugar cravings as that is my biggest area of concern.

I'll take my chances with not being a rat. not going into this naively and is a informed choice to make. I've been at least three stone over weight all my life from being about 14. Sometimes more up to 6 stone overweight. No one can explain how that affects every single aspect of your life so I'll take the chance with saxenda.

Where are people getting Saxenda now? I have used Burwash Pharmacy mostly but once again they seem to have stopped prescribing it.
