Hi all, this looks like a good place to pick some brains...
Having unsuccessfully tried to lose weight regained over 6 years (lost 12 stone with Cambridge in 2016, 8 stone crept back on) I have thrown myself at the mercy of my local GP surgery in the hope they can assist me in a more permanent solution.
I've received a message saying that I will be referred to the weight management/bariatric service and they require me to take some blood tests.
Does this mean that they are considering referring me for bariatric surgery (not sure if I want to take that route, am early 50s) or if the "bariatric" just an overarching term?
Please help an old, confused fat bird!

It’s just weight loss, they also see pre surgery referral patients

WAMS also supports appropriate individuals to prepare for bariatric (weight loss) surgery with the ‘Bristol Bariatric Service’ (BBS). It is national guidance that you need to receive intensive support from a specialist weight management service, such as WAMS, before you can be considered for a referral to a weight loss surgery team

Sorry, it missed this bit
‘Bristol Weight Management and Bariatric Service’ (BWMBS) delivers a specialist ‘Weight Assessment and Management Service’ (WAMS). WAMS was previously known as the ‘Tier 3 Specialist Weight Management Service’. WAMS provides non-surgical weight management support and interventions for a 6-12month period.
