Slimfast

Ha, this seems so retro but I am giving slimfast a go. I am trying the ready made shakes (they are quite nice once they have been in the fridge) and the Superdrug version of the bars (although they seem quite sickly). Have done five days of a bar, a shake then a proper meal and haven’t felt too hungry although I have still drunk a bit of alcohol and haven’t exercised as much as I hoped (nightmare week at work with work partner off with COVID).

Haven’t loads to lose, would be happy with 10 pounds loss (about 10 stone now at 5, 3 and would be happier closer to 9 stone but never seem to shift it). Anyway, has anyone else tried slimfast since the early 90s?

I am on day one! I have done it before in the early 00s and it did work. I lost lots of weight breastfeeding but I've gained about a stone and a half since early 2020 (wonder why...)

I just want to do 2 weeks as I'll never get weaned off share bags of crisps and biscuits otherwise.

So weighed myself this morning and have lost a couple of pounds (have done five days) but my weight does go up and down a bit.

I have quite a socialising-heavy weekend with a friend over for dinner tonight and another friend’s 50th birthday lunch tmrw but I will try to stick to the bars/shakes outside these meals, might nip to Superdrug and see if they have any savoury bar options, the vanilla/caramel ones are just too rich and sickly, but on the whole I think this is quite doable and I will try another week at least.

Let us know how you get on @BulletTrain!

Well done! I'm 5ft and 11st13lbs at the moment. I was shocked - apart from pregnancy I've never been over 11st7lb before. Anything under 11st will do me.

Highly recommend the Skinny Whip bars if you want something a bit cheaper! From places like B&M and Home Bargains.

I've lost 2lb since yesterday so clearly I needed to stop eating all the salty crap and drink water instead of coffee. Grin

The slimfast powder isn't very nice. Team RH banana protein powder is really delicious with milk as a shake. Tastes like a McDonald's milkshake.

ThreeRingCircus · 13/03/2022 19:08

I don't like the powder but actually quite like the ready made slim fast shakes. They don't work for me as a long term option but as a quick fix they do the trick, I'm considering using them for a few weeks to kick start my weight loss and try to reset as I've found the evening snacking creeping in. Since they increased the protein in the shakes I actually find them reasonably filling.

BulletTrain · 13/03/2022 19:13

Just realised I said I'm 5ft but actually I'm 5ft4 and a bit!

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 13/03/2022 19:36

How much do the ready made shakes cost, out if interest?

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 13/03/2022 19:37

I'm obsessed with milkshakes so don't feel deprived having one for breakfast.

BulletTrain · 13/03/2022 19:46

About £9 for 6. It's a really expensive way of doing it. I'm using Sainsbury's own which were about £4.50 for 10 powder sachets. Rather than take a ready-made shake, I think I'll just take a can of soup to work tomorrow instead.

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 13/03/2022 20:28

OK I'll stick to the team RH banana protein powder. Richie Howey is a twat but it's a good product

I started the Slimfsst 'Ready to Go' box on Sunday and it seems to be working well so far. I just wondered if anyone has suffered with stomach pains or nausea when using this plan? Obviously most of the food I am eating is the bars, shakes and snacks so I'm wondering if this is causing it and, if so, will it subside? It may be unrelated but I just wondered if anyone else has experienced this?

BulletTrain · 15/03/2022 12:07

I haven't yet but I'm not eating their bars etc, just the shakes.

I have lost 3lb in the first 4 days so I suspect I was quite bloated!

Sueaxlbrick · 15/03/2022 12:47

Thank you. I find the structure of the plan is helping me and eating 6 times a day is making me feel like I'm getting enough food but my stomach feels bloated and painful. Maybe because I'm not drinking the 8 glasses of water that are recommended.

BulletTrain · 22/03/2022 06:12

How are we doing? I have lost 5lb so far (despite having a KFC). But I have replaced the lunch shake with a can of soup on 3 or 4 days a week.
