The Human Being Diet... anyone?

I'm on day 3 of this rather hard core diet, and I'm actually really enjoying it.

So far I've done 2 days of vege's only, plus a large dose of Epsom salts on day 1 to clean everything out. I took 2 days off work for this part!!

Now I'm on day 3, so day 1 of Phase 2. I've had yogurt and berries for breakfast and a chicken salad for lunch, and drank loads of water.

I have to say, I'm feeling ok. I have a bit of a headache - that could be lack of sugar or it could work and the issues I have with my neck. Anyway, it's totally manageable. And I'm sleeping well!

I've got quite a lot of weight to lose, as being on Amitriptyline for 2 years as a migraine preventative has seen me pile on the weight. Add in the menopause and HRT, and I'm at my heaviest ever.

Feeling pretty determined at the moment, and loving the science-y bits that that book explains.

I’ve just ordered the book! Been lurking following Insta accounts for a while 😂
Sick of Cambridge diet, slimming world yo yoing etc….though have had a few weeks of eating mostly low GL food and trying to keep blood sugar level, so hoping the HBD start might be less painful a a result!

Interested to hear how you go, thinking next week to start x

Bobbins36 · 24/04/2022 22:23

How are you going OP? I’m 3 weeks in and loving it! Feel,so much better x

Letsdothis1 · 02/05/2022 14:29

Hey OP and Bobbins36 - how are you ladies doing with HBD? Still going strong? I’m day 4 of Phase 2 and doing ok. I’ve got around 2 st to loose, 1 of those is adult weight that I’ve held all my life, the other has come on in Peri- menopause over the last 9 months. I’m definitely sleeping better, jeans starting to feel looser, the energy is coming back.
How are you guys finding things further down the line?? X

NrlySp · 02/05/2022 14:35

I’m doing it. I find are the initial challenge I feel much better - happier, sleep better, more energy. I also don’t feel hungry between meals.
Has anyone been on the Instagram lives?

Bobbins36 · 02/05/2022 22:07

@Letsdothis1 Iam on week 5 and loving it! Finding it liveable with and jeans are defo looser! Sleeping great and skin cleared right up - the perimenopausal skin had reverted to its teenage angry state 😫 I will stick with it I think.
@NrlySp there’s a huge Insta community - really quite supportive, I’m impressed!

I was rubbish and never came back to this thread!!

I did really well for a few weeks: lost loads of weight and just felt soooo much better. I actually found it much easier that I thought I would, and fast results really urge you on to continue. I also like something strict and structured, I find it easier to follow and not too much faffing around. The thing I struggle with is breakfast. I'm generally eating it over an hour after getting up, and at my desk at work. And then it's generally yogurt and fruit which I'm getting a bit bored of now. So I need to have a good think for something else.

And then we moved house...... and it all went to pot. Although I have been mainly eating breakfast and lunch on plan. It's the evening meal, takeaways and alcohol that have crept back in. So Saturday is a reset/ epsom salts day! I'm re-reading the book and checking Insta constantly to stay focused.

How are you all doing?? Have you found it easier as you've gone along?

With a few weekends off here and there I am pretty much doing it! Feeling loads better although elderly relly here for this week - only eats plain food and won’t try new stuff, wants endless tea and biscuits - making this week a bit more of a struggle….back on it from tomorrow though. Am finding it easier to return to after the odd day off too which is a first for me, so boding we’ll for long term. Great that you are going back to basics too, that’s a great mindset 👍👍

The core of this "diet" regime is hefty laxatives?

Whitedamask · 18/05/2022 12:25

I don't think Epsom salts should figure in any kind of diet.

Bobbins36 · 18/05/2022 13:45

No it’s not. It’s a one off and not compulsory option. I haven’t done that fyi.

No, it's a one-off dose. I'm sure plenty of people choose not to do it.

Also, bear in mind that regular salt is a sodium based compound whereas epsom salts are magnesium based. As a chronic migraine sufferer, magnesium really helps me.

Personally I really liked how I felt afterwards, a lot less bloated.

This sounds interesting! So what do you do with the salts? I always thought you put them in a bath - but do you drink them? Helping with bloating sounds good, my tummy is constantly bloated.

You drink them! For the first two days it veggies only - I did as suggested and made a batch of vegetable soup. It sounds weird but you soon get used to it, and your palate changes really quickly.

I took the 2 days off work to do the first bit, but I have IBS so am never sure how my stomach is going to react.

What I can say, is that this way of eating gave me bags of energy, I felt great, my bloating and upset stomachs disappeared and my migraines were non-existent (this from someone how normally has 2-3 a week).

This is a brief breakdown, but really all you need is the book. There is also a weekly live on Petronella's IG which can be interesting, and there's quite a HBD community on IG too.

Thanks sasparilla - il have a look.

Hi ladies, I'm starting this tomorrow! Need to fit in some prep today so I can just grab veggies Friday and Saturday. I've chosen to do it when my partner is off work for a few days so he can help with the babies in case I'm hangry and need to lock myself away! 🤣
