Weight loss after babies & c section

I am 13 weeks post partum since having twins. It was a difficult and high risk pregnancy so I had restricted activities towards the end which meant I didn't do much exercise. It was a twin pregnancy and I also had a c section followed by surgery and a lot of blood loss.

I also had gestational diabetes which has now resolved.

I was never skinny to start with.., think size 14 but I'm tall.... but my body feels unrecognisable now. I'm a dress size bigger and around a stone heavier than when I fell pregnant.

I have been going on some long walks the last few weeks with the babies in a pram

I planned to go to a spin class this week but my friend said it would be too soon post c section. Any thoughts?

Give it time! I had twins via c section in 2020. I haven’t got a completely flat tummy but otherwise weigh the same. Can you start with some brisk walks? I started c25k at 12 weeks pp and realised it was too soon. I was desperate to lose weight and exercise but could feeling my scar pulling.

Please be kind to yourself and take it slowly @bubbakasn - I had twins via c section a few years ago, very difficult birth, and I think I rushed into trying to lose the baby weight too quickly! Have a look at the MuTu website for some gentle exercises, or hopefully your health visitor can point you in the direction of some suitable exercise classes Smile

I'd say it's probably more important to concentrate on nutrition for now, making sure that you eat the right things to recover well - WW/ SW are both supportive of new mums or there's plenty of stuff available for free as well.

Good luck!

Congratulations! I haven’t had twins but I have had 3 babies via sections. Each time I have gained a lot of weight and also and GD.
I have also lost weight each time with walks, jogs and eating a balanced meal without counting calories. First time I lost 28kg in a year. Second time 25kg in a year. This time my baby is 10 months and I have just started and lost 2kg so far and another 16kg to go which I will lose by the end of the year. I don’t stress and just go slow and easy as I know I have done it twice before and can do it again. I don’t do any special. Just walks, jogs and eating well.
