My BMI is 35

He’s given me a voucher for 12 weeks

I am on the case anyway but doing plant based eating

Should I go? What do they do? The horror of a public weigh in might actually spur me on 😂

Do you have to confess about your food?

When they weigh you no one else finds out the weight. If you stay on they say your weight loss or gain and you say how things are going with it briefly. You may as well try it as it's free and see how you get on. I met one of my best friends there. We started the same week. I don't go any more but did lose about 1 stone 4 with it and didn't feel hungry

I did that a year ago. I went along, convinced it wouldn't work.
I've lost 5.5 stone.

I'm not naturally gregarious, but the class I go to is very relaxed, very friendly and supportive.

We share food ideas, learn tactics to manage tricky situations, say well done/never mind next week will be better etc!.

The worst bit for me is all the food talk. I mean, you need to, but it can be a bit triggering when we talk about food so much!

The usual 'disclosure' is 'well done Freda, you've reached your half stone target/well done Fred you've lost 10% of your total body weight/well done Jenny that's 2lb off this week'.

It's never 'Sarah's 10 stone 7, Jenny's 14 stone 3, you'd never guess would you?!'

I am on SW and eat loads (per plan) and loose weight and never feel hungry and love staying to group for encouragement and support, So far lost nearly 2 stone (did loose 4 before Covid and my life being crap for 2 years) so it works,

No one knows your weight and if you dont want people to know you've lost X this week just talk to the person running the group. my dad goes and just sits quietly at the back and leader leaves him to it whereas I like taking part more.

SW gets a lot of shit on here, but its as good as you make it!!

Use common sense and don't eat 5 yogurts a day, don't eat a mountain of pasta just because its free, don't coat things in cous cous to make a crispy coating. If you stick to the rules about a third speed at every meal then that's helping to fill up on a stack of vegetables.

They are much better with plant based alternatives, although individual class leaders may not be as good with those if they are very old school!

picklemewalnuts · 10/02/2022 13:41

My class leader is vegan. It's perfectly possible.

I was a sceptic. I joined on a free referral 5 weeks ago. Weigh in tonight and I think I might just get my 1 stone award! I really enjoy it actually and it clearly works.
