What weight weights do you use?

I’ve recently started trying to exercise, more to tone, strengthen and just get more fit rather than weight loss
I’ve just been doing YouTube videos and a bit of swimming, when I’ve been doing the YouTube vids they use weights and so far I’ve been using tons of beans or bottles of water but they’re just not heavy enough I don’t think as I don’t really feel anything and the woman on the screen looks like it should hurt
So what weight do I start with?

I've got a variety of weights starting at 2kg, 3kg, 4kg and then 5kg.

Absolutely depends what I’m doing. Some exercises I do with 5kg hand weights, some I do with 15kg weights and various in between so no straight answer I’m afraid!

I've got 3kg and 5kg dumbells. And 12kg and 16kg kettlebells for weighted squats/deadlifts. I could do heavier deadlift but that's what was in the shops at the time! At the gym I do a class with a mini barbell with variable weights up to 30kg. My local aldi has lots in this week.

As others have said it very much depends what you're doing / trying to achieve. Rep range, body part worked etc.

If you're just starting out and moving along to cardio / interval type stuff, a few different hand weights from somewhere like Aldi might be the best bet.

I have adjustable dumbbells which are great, but decent ones are quite an investment & much more than you'd need for e.g. light to moderate weights to enhance a mostly cardio workout.
