Thinking about food all the time - how do I make it stop

Doing a low carb ish diet. Have lost nearly 4kg this year since Jan 1. Intend to keep going for as long as I can manage - would love to lose 10kg more. But I think about food all the time, bubbling away in the back of my mind. What will I eat next etc. How do I stop this?

I’m kind of in the same boat as you, same loss and same timescale. I’ve stopped having cravings, and I’ve actually lost my appetite, so I no longer snack between meals. But I do still think about food (or the diet) most of the day unless I’m distracted. But meal planning really helps, I plan healthy meals for the week, and shop accordingly.

When you say you think about food, do you mean craving junk? The only advice I can offer is to keep going, and hopefully you’ll reach a point where you only think of healthy foods. Today for example, I walked back from the gym thinking about what to eat, but instead of my old habits of reaching for crisps and then more crisps, and probably a chocolate bar, I actually looked forward to a big healthy bowl of strawberries, banana, natural yoghurt and granola. It was absolutely delicious, filled me up and I felt good knowing how healthy it was.

Well done on your loss so far. I think all you can do is plan the day’s meals, then the only thinking to do is look forward to that next healthy meal.

no not craving junk but thinking about what I am going to eat etc - not helped by cooking for three kids etc.
