I lost 2 and a half stone on the weight watchers points system this year. Found it easy enough, never very hungry and could eat what I want, so long as I paid attention to portion sizes and bulked out on "point free" food - ie veg! It's the only proper diet I've ever been on, so can't compare, but I'd definately do it again if I needed to.

I'm doing WW, but no experience of Slimming World. I like the WW system - I use the 'no count core plan', which has encouraged me into healthy eating habits. But most others in my group do the traditional 'points counting' system.

I joined at the beginning of September and have lost 24 lb. Got another 20 lb to lose in the New Year to reach ideal weight.

I have done both and much prefer slimming World.

There are a lot of free foods with SW and you can still have a lot of goodies if you count them in as syns.

I eat loads more than I have ever done and people never believe I am on a diet.

I have lost over 2 stone and although I am 10 weeks pregnant I am going to continue following the plan because it is very healthy and I have only put on half a pound so far.

Whatever you decide to do - good luck!

What worries me about SW is exactly the amount of food you are allowed to eat. My SIL did SW and when she stayed here over christmas I was horrified at the amounts of food she puts away... she says she is hungry!! I know what i would be like... I don't have the will power to stick to "free" foods and will end up eating that amount of food but in bad stuff.

I lost nearly 2 stone at SW. And yes, you can eat buckets of pasta/potatoes/rice etc so wasn't hungry.
Did miss bread, butter and junk though.
I didn't think it would work given how much I could eat but it did, bout 2-4 pounds each week.
Mind you, still find it hard to look at pasta without gagging....

needmorecoffee · 29/12/2007 18:31

its like any diet, you stick to the letter of the diet and you lose weight.

boHOHOhemianbint · 29/12/2007 18:34

I've done both - they are both good but in different ways. You can eat a lot on SW which I love, but if you fall off the wagon it really makes a difference, I've found.

I like the points system personally, because I have a real problem with knowing when to stop. Even when I've tried to lose weight by only eating the right food, I've just plain and simply eaten too much of it, and not lost weight. WW points taught me how to limit my food intake, which is exactly what I needed.

Weight Watchers every time. If you use the points system you cannot go wrong.
