Hello,

I've weighed myself today after having a baby and a year of depression and I've put on a whopping four stone taking my BMI to almost 40.

I just don't know where to start, can anyone recommend some diets or where to start please

Thank you

I would start by reading the book 'Why we eat (too much)' by Andrew Jenkinson. This helped me understand why I have a tendency to put on weight, and to let go of negative feelings and guilt so I could focus on doing something about it.

You've mentioned depression so it's really important that you are kind to yourself and don't put yourself under pressure about your weight.

There are suggestions in the book of ways to eat, which have helped me personally lose weight, but you need to find a sustainable WOE that works for you - so look at different diets and how they compare to what you like to eat and find easy to buy and prepare.

There are threads on here for 'Why we eat (too much)' if you feel it's for you. I lost 4 stone last year following this WOE and am now a healthy BMI though still a little above my personal happy weight.

Good luck. You can do it.
