Four stone weight loss advice..

Hi all!!!

So I'm a new mum and have decided the new year is the time to get back into shape.

I'm 5'3 and weighed in at 14 stone 1 pounds, which is the heaviest I've ever been.

I'm feeling pretty down about myself, feeling rubbish in all my clothes and just generally low in self esteem right now.

Ideally I want to lose 3.5 to 4 stone.
Is it realistic to aim for 6 months?

Those who have done it or are doing it;

Any tips on weight loss?
How to stay motivated on the bad days?
Should I be worried about getting loose skin and is there any way to prevent it?
Any exercises you have tried and enjoyed as so far all I really do is walk with the pram.

Any advice/experience is appreciated 🥰

I was heavier than you and taller and lost just under 3 stone in 3 months following a health programme where weight loss is a side aim.

I’d say 4 stone in 6 months is pushing it and unlikely to be achieved without damaging your health. (I previously lost 2 stone on the Fast 800 diet but it absolutely ruined my metabolism and took me a long time to recover (during which I put the weight back on).

I’ve lost a further someone since finishing the programme and it’s staying off.

6 months isn’t that realistic. Aim for 2lb a week (you’ll probably lose more at first then it will slow down!) so that’s one year.

You can definitely do it. Lots of walks with the pram is great. I’d also recommend short you tube workouts when your baby is sleeping - check out Lucy Wyndham Read on you tube. I love her 7 minute workouts!

Also get Chloe Madely Body Blitz book. I didn’t follow it religiously but I took on board all the advice and made some key changes to my diet.

I’m not dieting actively at the moment (I’m a healthy weight now) but I find when I am I try to allow myself one decent treat per week. I’m a chocolate/biscuits fiend so that was my weekly treat - a big Turkish delight and a cup of tea on a Saturday night. I’d really look forward to it all week 🤣.

It’s 80 % diet, 20 % exercise.

Also if you have Amazon Prime watch Secret Eaters - it opens you eyes to just how many calories are in food. It’s insane!!!

Good luck.

Ps/ Also look for local buggy fit classes - great for exercise & meeting other mums.

I lost 3 stone in a year.

I focused on mental and physical health so started running 2/3 times a week and personal training once a week and made small healthy changes, like taking vitamins, having benecol and bigger ones like stopping drinking. I didn’t diet nor expect to lose weight but it started coming off steadily at around a lb a week. Then when I got to about 10 and a half stone it slowed down considerably and finally stopped at around 10 which is obviously what my current lifestyle can sustain. I really fell in love with exercise which is what did the trick, I’ve yoyo dieted without success for years.
