Is it an option not to have unhealthy food in the house at all? At least until you get out of the habit of eating it?

I hear you! Hopefully someone has the answer .

I can't have it in the house at all. I'm snacking on hummus and celery, with a low cal hot chocolate if desperate. I'm using My Fitness Pal. I'm going to allow myself a normal sized chocolate bar on a Saturday so I know the treat is still there. I've only done a week. I was 2 stone overweight, and put an extra half stone on at Xmas by eating everything in sight. I'm actually worried about my health rather than just getting in my clothes.

If it's just the habit of eating then have healthier but nice snacks close at hand, things that you enjoy eating. Or find an activity that keeps your hands busy so you can't eat, I knit, sew or do colouring while I'm watching TV.

If it's a craving for sweet stuff then going cold turkey usually works best, after 3-4 days the craving goes.

Don’t be too hard on yourself, it’s hard to switch off after Christmas and all the extra eating involved. Also is January in the British climate - freezing cold and gloomy! Winter weather make me hungry like a wolf!

HermioneWeasley · 07/01/2022 20:38

What are your reasons for wanting to eat healthier? Write down as many of them as possible.

My clothes are too tight after Christmas, general pandemic, depression. I have to draw a line under it now.

I don’t have advice…but you are not alone Flowers

I basically was motivated after I saw some of my old school friends on Facebook become obese after having kids . I don’t want to end up like that so I quit cold turkey
