I'm not dieting as such, just trying to snack less!
And I live alone/WFH so my portion sizes are a shot in the dark!

This is what I had today

Breakfast (not pictured) slice of sourdough and marmite

The sandwich is lean ham, chutney, gherkins, salad, tomatoes in it and a single pack of hula hoops

2 of the biscuits

The random meal is half a pack stir fry veg, half a pack of micro rice, 2 eggs, soy sauce (garlic too)

Will likely have raspberries and a spoon of Greek yoghurt shortly

Should have said please be gentle as I have an (undiagnosed) ED which manifests as binging or refusing to eat at all
I'm hoping for 2022 to eat more fruit and veg Smile

I think that's absolutely fine. Looks yummy!

I'm not sure MN is always the best place to ask for advice on portioning though. Especially if it's a sensitive topic.

TheFishWillSeeYouNow · 06/01/2022 18:43

That looks delicious and very healthy/balanced.

Snowwhite83 · 06/01/2022 18:44

I wouldnt say its your porons op its more what you are eating. ts quite alot to have carbs at every meal. Could you try no carbs at lunch or dinner? Other than that doesn't seem bad , look after yourself.

Yeah I figured weight loss chat rather than AIBU Wink I'm not so sensitive I can't take a lecture on carbs Grin I tend to be better on lower carb but I find it so so bloody hard to stick to!

It not a lot of food but keep in mind two of those biscuits are a quarter of your daily saturated fat for the day if you're trying to loose weight. They are lovely though!

It does vary a lot!

Breakfast mostly I skip but was hungry today. Sometimes I have a protein shake, or porridge or yoghurt and fruit

Tea is often a chicken salad (pic added for portion size) but I had rice to use

How much have you got to lose? I tried every diet under the sun, but finally lost 3.5 stone on the Fast800. Have also kept it off. The science for that way if eating is a bit different, and because you don't have many carbs, it makes you less hungry. Appreciate everyone's experiences are different, but that's what worked for me (mentioning it in case you haven't heard of it)

A fuck load. I can't exercise for medical reasons so diet it is but I can't cut it down much more without ending up restricting/binging I lost a fair amount on a VERY restrictive diet but that was literally meat, veg, eggs for months I'm concentrating on health and eating more veg for now

Up the protein, reduce the carbs - other than oats the other carbs are quite processed. Look at the GI index.
I find I need to feel full for a diet to work. So I make huge salads with lots of different veg in and some protein (usually chicken, though I have eggs and smoked salmon every day). Some carbs too, but mostly veg. Nuts are good for protein too.

glimpsing · 06/01/2022 19:03

Dunno. I log on FitBit which puts its against activity and gives you the deficit.

Although, if you were maintaining previously, if you halved those previous portions you should lose in theory. You could add in extra green veg/salad to fill your plate.Smile

WakeUpLockie · 06/01/2022 19:06

I would deffo gain weight on that (and I have a lot to lose), the carbs would make me balloon. I’d have more than a spoon of Greek yog though! Everyone is different which is why weight loss advice is so hard.

devildeepbluesea · 06/01/2022 19:07

It's not a lot of food, but also not a lot of protein or veggies, which will help you feel fuller for longer.

MeatyRvita · 06/01/2022 19:10

Looks ok to me but a bit small maybe- I would up the veg with every meal, maybe a little bit more protein and have some fruit too if still hungry!

MakeUsACuppa · 06/01/2022 19:14

I'd try and make your food more colourful, this will help you up your veg Wink

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 06/01/2022 19:24

Just eat the middles of the hula-hoops, it's the outer bit where all the calories are.Grin

I lost 3 stone last year (over 6 months) and my main changes were:

Drink LOADS of water (I drink about 2/3 litres a day)

Add 1/3 of the plate of anything you eat as salad or veg.

Little changes like Homemade chips using fry-light in the oven.

I still had treats every day. Like a bag of crisps as afternoon snack etc.

Portion sizes look good but like previous poster said, make it more colourful with salad and veg and you'll be on to a winner 😊

MaybeHeIsMyCat · 06/01/2022 20:03

I definitely drink loads (v weak sugar free squash) probably 2l a day then way too many cups of tea/herbal/decaf (no sugar)
