countrytweed · 29/12/2021 20:37

I thought it might be fun/helpful(?) to do an end of year summary, so we can see how far we've come in a year... and a reminder that it can be done again or bettered in 2022!

How about...

  • starting weight at beginning of 2021
  • lowest weight during the year
  • weight today
Bonus points for what got you the best results!

Mine are: 11st 12lbs... 10st 2lbs... 10st 11lbs
Calorie counting worked best for me Smile

Over to you!

Starting weight July 2021: 176.3kg
Lowest weight :159.6kg
Current weight: 159.6kg

Total lost: 16.7kg. Or 37lbs or 2st 9lbs

TwinkleToesStrikesAgain · 29/12/2021 20:43

@Wombatsandstuff - that's fantastic! Struck a bell with me as I weigh the same as you due last year. Do you mind if I ask how you achieved it?

Aria2015 · 29/12/2021 20:52

Great on everyone! I don't really talk much about my weight generally but it's good to reflect on what I've achieved this year!

Starting weight Jan 2021: 17 st 2 lbs
Current weight: 13 st 12 lbs
Total loss 3 stone and 4 lbs.

At the beginning of the year it felt like such a huge hill to climb after having my baby but now I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Currently a size 14 and want to lose 1.5 stone to get down to around 12 st 5 lbs where I'm a comfortable size 12 (I'm fairly tall). I used to strive for size 10 perfection but now I've realised that I actually looked perfectly fine as a size 12 and so that's what I'm aiming for! Hoping to get it off in the first few months of 2022 so I can feel good in the summer when the layers of clothes come off!

Elmo230885 · 29/12/2021 20:57

Starting weight - 105.1kg (when I first started weighing myself)
Lowest weight - 97.7kg
Current weight - 98.0kg

Not sure what that is in stone/ounces.

Decided in August to lose weight. Cut the crap out of my diet, cut caffeine out and started running 2-3 tines per week.

countrytweed · 29/12/2021 20:57

@Wombatsandstuff @Aria2015
Wow!! Massive achievements... I'm so impressed.

I've been focussed since first lockdown, March of 2020, very slowly but steadily, so counting from then.

Starting weight 201 lbs
Lowest weight 170 lbs (I swear I saw 169 one morning but flash, it was gone)
Current weight - 170 lbs.

I started actively forcing myself to make 5 miles walking every day, doing it in small snatches when needed, but not settling down for the evening until it was done. That often means last mile running on the spot in front of the tv.

Would like to get to 155, but not pushing it. I'm on the right track.

h0rsewithn0name · 29/12/2021 21:04

Great idea for a thread!

Starting weight (Jan 2021) 14st 8lb
Lowest weight (Dec 2021) 11st 8lb
Current weight 11st 11lb

Total loss 39lb or 17.7kg and very close to a health BMI. I'm rarely proud of myself, but this has been my achievement of the year and I'm pretty damn proud.

I did this mainly with calorie counting, using MFP, and 2 x 40 minute walks every day, come rain, shine and illness.

countrytweed · 29/12/2021 21:17

I definitely need to up the exercise... walking and running really seems to makes a difference, along with all the mental health benefits too Smile

I go to the gym four times a week (45 minutes at a time). I eat one or two bags of crisps a week, and a little bit of chocolate. I don’t track because I hate that, I do it every so often for a couple weeks just to keep myself in check. I eat about 1500-1700 calories a day, some days 2000 but I try not to do that too much. It works for me. I haven’t been doing this every week, some binge weeks and some lazy weeks but next year I’m hoping to be more consistent as I know I can lose lots more weight easily. When I do stick to it I lose about 1.2-1.7kg a week.

Hope this helps a bit and good luck. You can do it.

Wombatsandstuff · 29/12/2021 21:23

I’m adding in walking, my gym is a little bit of cardio but mainly strength training, I’ve put on quite a bit of muscle too.

Mercedes519 · 29/12/2021 21:23

Starting weight 12.7
Lowest 10.10
Current weight 10.13

Down from 14 st in 2019. Proud of myself to lose it, feel so much better and keep it off. First time in my adult life I’m a healthy weight.

Calorie counting here - exercise makes me feel better but weight is all down to food.

TwinkleToesStrikesAgain · 29/12/2021 23:20

@Wombatsandstuff thank you!

Alas I can't see making it to the gym four times a week (firstly as I'm not a gym nember Smile and secondly I'm not sure I can justify the £70+/month when I don't think I'd go after work - I know I won't want to drive 30 mins to the gym after work...)

I fear I'm going to have to start running but mainly I'm going to have to eat less. Ho hum.

TalkToTheHand123 · 30/12/2021 00:10

Start weight = 15 stone
Current weight = 16 stone

I managed to get to 15.5 stone just before xmas, so I have a bit of hope I can make progress again.

MattDamon · 30/12/2021 07:59

Starting weight: 17 st and change
Lowest weight: 11 st 11 lbs (BMI 24)
Current weight: 12 st-ish (Christmas bloat!!)
2022 goal: 11 st

I started out using slimfast shakes to break the cravings, then swapped to calorie counting.

Allthesefolks · 30/12/2021 08:34

Wow these are impressive!

Starting weight: 13 stone 5
Lowest weight: 11 stone 4
Current weight: 11 stone 8 (Hit the Christmas overindulgence hard Blush and haven’t been able to exercise for 3 weeks)

I really struggled to lose the baby weight in 2020 for various reasons but been doing the Bodycoach app since May and then calorie counting the last couple of months when I lost motivation re: diet. Been fairly generous at 1800 calories but it means it’s easier for me to stick to long term, I exercise 3-4 times per week, am still bfing and up in the night with DC2 Hmm.

Been coming off slow and steady and got back to pre-baby weight, I’d like to get down to 10 stone 7 in 2022 (as much as possible before my 40th), get back to my fasted 5k time and carry on with lifting.

fourandahalfkids · 30/12/2021 14:44

Well done everyone.
Starting weight : 15st (March 2021)
Lowest weight :10st 1 (just before Christmas)
Current weight : 10st 2 (had the day off on Christmas day).
Hoping to lose another stone and tone up a bit this year. I'll be 41 in February.

fourandahalfkids · 30/12/2021 14:45

Oh and for me it was intermittent fasting (18.6) coupled with low carb and lots of walking. Plan to start some weights up in the nee year.

ThroughThinkandThing · 30/12/2021 14:49

Starting weight: 16 stone in June.

Lowest weight: 12 stone 13 just before Christmas.

Current weight: 13 stone 3.

After the new year I will be back on calorie counting. I plan to get down into the ten stone bracket.

SnowyMouse · 31/12/2021 18:21

SW: 15 stone 4 (june 2020)
CW: 13 stone 0.75 (31 dec)

So I have lost 2 stone 3.25 lbs I need to continue next year!

FashionFoodLaughs · 31/12/2021 19:20

SW - 12st 2lbs
CW - 10st 9lbs
Am 5’10” so not losing any more. Done through lowish carb and going teetotal.

Tayegete · 02/01/2022 09:55

Much more impressive than my figures but I started fairly late in the year and have been a bit inconsistent. Posting for accountability. My diet has been terrible over Xmas (not helped by having been stuck in with Covid for ages) and I’m starting to feel rubbish again and my insomnia has returned. I’d like to get to 11 stone but 13 would feel a massive victory by the end of the year.
SW 17.10
LW 15.13
CW 16.4

ArblemarzipanTFruitcake · 02/01/2022 10:02

- starting weight at beginning of 2021

Approx 14 stone - didn't weigh myself till Feb after I'd been healthily eating for a month, at which point I was 13 stone 8

- lowest weight during the year

10 stone 1

- weight today

10 stone 5 (after effects of Christmas!)

I'm 5'4 and my goal weight is 9 stone 7 Smile.

ArblemarzipanTFruitcake · 02/01/2022 10:06

Oh, and for my bonus, this was all on the Jenkinson 'Why we eat (too much)' way of eating.

I intend to follow this permanently, with the odd break to allow myself some cake or chocolate on special occasions.
