Just got called a fat c*nt

I'm absolutely devastated. Next door neighbour has been working on house for 18 months. Not just the odd day, up to 7 days a week from anything 7am to 7pm. I have complained a few times before as I'm working from home but he has just said it "won't be much longer".
He was banging yesterday (boxing day) and this afternoon he was drilling straight into my lounge wall so I couldn't even watch tv with the sound up.
I went and knocked and he gave me a tirade of abuse including calling me a fat c*nt.
I've been crying for a couple of hours. I'm so paranoid about my weight. I am going through menopause and have put on a lot.
I am a size 14 (if that matters) but thought I didn't look too bad to others but am now wondering if he has said what others are thinking.
I feel so low, I don't even want to eat tonight.

Echoing what others have said about it being a go-to insult from men who are generally as thick as mince and you shouldn't let it get to you. I'd love to be a size 14!

But really, building work on Boxing Day and a Bank Holiday?! I'd report him to your local council.

I had a knock on the door just now and I was a bit scared to open it but it was the opposite neighbour (a big, tall retired copper). He said he saw what happened but was on his way out but knocked on to see if I was ok.
I said I was shaken up and he knocked my next door neighbour to see if he could mediate.
The guy next door didn't answer (nor did he answer the door to tell big ex-policeman 'Steve' to f-off or that he was a fat c-word) thus proving that he is a misogynistic coward.
He did bleat through the letterbox that he was on the phone to the police. I hope he was a he has a Ring doorbell for evidence of earlier tirade.

Now you need to get cross and find out what you can do to stop the noise or rein it in a bit.

Most people will say fat as an insult when someone isn't fat, not that it makes it any better.

You are not unreasonable to expect peace and quiet in your home at this time ( it is a holiday - alright I know some people do have to work but still it is officially a bank holiday today and tomorrow )

I'm a size 6-8 and am regularly called fat by men. Did he add other misogynistic insults such as 'bitch', 'slag' etc? That's the norm. Practise almost laughing. A sort of under the breath snigger. Men hate to be laughed at, it always makes them very very wary of a woman. If he comments say "oh ignore me, I'm just a fat old bitch" and have a proper belly laugh. He'll be terrified and ignore you. If you see him out and about do a raised eyebrows smirk and watch him shit his pants.

Keep a record of the noise hes making and how long its taking him. also any extra vehicles or skips causing an inconvenience to you. then report him to the council for the noise and anti social behaviour.

If he wants to be a dick about it then play his game.

I know how you feel OP, I've gained weight and lost confidence during my menopause too, but as PPs have said this is all about him and not about you. Please don't take it to heart.

My ex called me fat when I was a size 8 some people are just horrible a size 14 isn't fat.

I was heavily pregnant...baby already a week late when l arrived at my mum's....her next door neighbour appeared and said to me "oh you got fucking fat".

Good job l know he is a lonely, miserable and bitter old man who will never have anywhere near what l have got in terms of people around me so l just felt sorry for him instead of taking it to heart.
