Can't stop eating 😔

Since having my daughter (10 months ago), all I seem to do is eat!

Today:
2 x toast with butter and Marmite.
1 x Rocky Chocolate Biscuit
1 x Tuna Mayo Sandwich
1 x Bag of Crisps
1 x Bag of Popcorn
Handful of sweets
2 x Crumpets swimming in butter
1 x Creme Egg
Some more sweets
1 x Baked Bean and Cheese pasty.

Any tips on this snacking?! Barely any of my clothes fit. I've gone from a size 12 to nearly a size 18. My skin is bleurgh and so is my hair 😔

Hi starfish. I was exactly the same after my babies were born. Breastfeeding or not, babies are exhausting and absolutely take it out of you in a way that only sugar and carbs seem to be able to help.

Honestly the only way, once you decide you want to get back to yourself, is to throw out all those types of food and just not buy them. It’s hard to be strict, but if those chocolates, crisps etc are there I just eat them. It doesn’t have to be forever but for a while it’s best to go cold Turkey.

Low refined carb/ low sugar , high protein and high healthy fat diet. Apples or other fruit for your sweet tooth. Long walks with buggy. Loads of water, at lea at three liters a day. I’ve lost 22kg since my last was born. It’s taken a year, but I got there. I do now treat myself but about 80% of the time I eat healthily and keep on top of it. I track my calories with my fitness pal to keep it in check. Best of luck to you.

It's just a process that has to be lived through. Most of us were in the same situation . Then we come back to ourselves.

Thankyou for saying this. I am going through the same thing with my daughter who is 9 months.

Lots of the food we can't stop eating has a fairly specific fat:carb ratio. It's not found anywhere in nature except in breastmilk, a substance created by nature to be so moreish that we just can't stop wanting it (and so our species has survived) We are a culture full of adult bouncing babies.

Try to avoid that fat:carb ratio. It's in almost all the stuff you mentioned, even the toast/marmite/butter you made yourself. It would have been much less desirable without the butter, right? The butter is what you add, in just the right amount, to get that ratio.

Aim for protein and fat, or protein and carb, for your snacks. It gets you off the addictive, breastmilk-mimicking treadmill where, once you've started, it's almost impossible to stop.

No, it isn't.
