I've had a rough few years with IVF, inevitably I've gained weight through stress, hormones and all the shit that goes with it. My weight has crept up to over 73kg. I used to be around 64kg, lightest was 58kg. I used to be a muscular, lean size 8. I'm now a strong, curvy size 10. (41, 167cm)
The person I dislike most in the world texted me this .....
'It's laughable how much weight you've put on. You've always been ugly inside and out, but at least you had your enviable figure as leverage to get your own way. Now you don't even have that'
For weeks this has eaten away at me, I shouldn't let it upset me but it does. This week however something has clicked and I want to use this as motivation to drop the comfort Kg's.
Main issues are irregular eating
Too much wine
Not enough sleep
Starving myself, then eating too much
Over indulging on the weekend.
Anyone fancy keeping me company?

First week I always have a good loss, its water mostly I imagine but it works wonders for motivation.

Great work out @Hop27

Good luck this week to you both Smile

Can I join? I only need to lose 3kg to get to my happy size. Currently 55kg and always feel amazing at 52. I know these are quite low weights but I’m super short! Would have had a good day today but then forgot and ate some yoghurt with granola - it was a very sensible portion but still I’m super annoyed with myself!

Hop27 · 18/10/2021 21:41

@Hollyhead welcome! It's not about the weight or how much you want to drop. It about making yourself feel better, for yourself!

  1. That person is scum. A nasty, evil cow. Fuck them.
  1. How are you a size 10 at 73kg (11 st something) and 5 ft 6? I'm 5 ft 8 (172cm), 9 st 3, muscular, small frame, and only just a size 10 in river island, topshop etc. I'm a size 8 when I get below 9 st (my preferred weight). Maybe it's different shops/brands
Hop27 · 18/10/2021 22:06

@BudgeSquare I don't shop in shops designed for teens/20 year olds, I find those type of shops are made small. But appreciate I've not lived in the UK for a while. In international brands I'm a small/10 Lorna Jane, Nike, under armour, Nike, Camilla, Reiss, Calvin Klein, Mason Scotch, Levi's. In Australian brands, decjuba, sheike, cue, Witchery - I'm a Sml/10, sometimes an 8.

I don't know 'how' I'm a ten, I appreciate I'm really heavy but it's the size I buy that fits.

@Hop27 you sound like my body twin! Almost identical stats and currently working out 5/6 times per week!

Can I join you? I know I can shift the timber if I watch what's going in my mouth! - clue: meals not snacks!

Trying to get my protein up to stop snack cravings and my PT has set me a huge daily target!

user1471604848 · 18/10/2021 22:38

I'm normally about 60kg. After many IVFs and giving birth to my twins, I went up to 70kg during lockdown/maternity leavers.

About 6 weeks ago, I decided to do something about it. I'm now 65kg. The first 2 or 3 kg just fell off, but now it's slowed to 0.5kg per week, which is fine.
I aim to be about 62kg my Xmas, and under 60kg by my birthday next Apr.
Good luck!

I'm the same age as you, I don't buy teenage clothes, I don't think Grin

I'm an XS in Nike, don't know/own any of those other brands.

I wasn't saying you were wrong or lying. Just don't understand it

Hollyhead · 19/10/2021 07:36

I’m hoping to do a fast day today then I’ve got lentil and chicken bake tonight. I do drink tea when fasting so it’s not completely calorie free. Thank you for the welcome. I’m not a massive exerciser but I’m putting in the effort to close my Apple Watch rings each day at the moment with quite a lot of success.

Coogee · 19/10/2021 09:40

It depends where you shop. For example, Next or M&S are very flattering with their size labels.

Hop27 · 19/10/2021 10:27

Welcome everyone! The more the merrier.
Agree @Coogee sizes can differ hugely from store to store. Especially depending on their target audience!

Woah, please block who ever sent you that!

nousernamehere01 · 19/10/2021 10:35

What a disgusting text message! I'm glad you've blocked, that person is absolutely not needed in your life.

For what it's worth you sound like you're a great weight/size/shape! A strong curvy 10 is pretty much the goal for most people!

Good job on making you feel good about yourself again, sad it came off the back of a vile message!

notacooldad · 19/10/2021 10:38

Who on Earth that would be close enough to have your number say that to you? I'm stunned!!

Anyway I'm following this thread because I have put loads of Kgs on but everyone is being nice about it and it has made me kid myself. The comments are
DH - don't worry, you look lovely
DS don't start this dieting nonsense mum, you are NOT fat ( kiddo, I'm 5 stone over weight)
Best friend 'don't worry, it'll soon come off, it's just winter ( winter hasn't started yet!)

I've allowed myself to be flattered and it's not helped!

Like you OP I have had my click moment!

Hop27 · 19/10/2021 12:44

Actually not even the worst thing they've said to me over a 12ish year period ..... I've let many of their comments ebb away at me over the years but never again.

How’s it going for everyone. I was down 600g this morning which is a welcome boost for me. I’ve lost and regained this 3kg my whole life and I really want to banish it for good so I’m just looking at a rolling 7 day average of loss and aiming for not more than 0.5kg a week. I think I need to try and reset my ‘set point’

AndTime · 21/10/2021 18:42

I definitely need to brush up on my kg, I can only visualise stones and lbs

3kg is almost half a stone I think. I have a whole stone that goes on and off on a regular basis.

No gym today so trying to keep calories low.

Hop27 · 21/10/2021 20:37

I'm 1kg down. Having a shocking week at work, on a tender deadline so been working til 10 every night But I've eaten well and trained 4 times. Yesterday however my diet consisted of Diet Coke, coffee, crisps and Maltesers (I don't even like chocolate) / thankfully DH made me a lovely prawn pasta for supper, but I had 2 classes of wine, they were medicinal!
Deadline is today, so hopefully will get to the gym before the team goes to the pub!
(It's Friday morning for me)

OP posts:
AndTime · 22/10/2021 13:02

Good luck meeting the deadline, sounds really stressful!

I tried a fast day yesterday 500 calories and was pretty miserable so I don't think that's the way forward for me! Gym tonight for weights and cardio in the morning.

AndTime · 24/10/2021 19:34

How are we all getting on?

Another 1.3kg loss for me this week. I'm hoping to get into a particular outfit for our anniversary in a couple of weeks so my motivation is really strong so far.

Hop27 · 25/10/2021 09:20

I'm still sitting at 1kg down. Which after a weekend I'm happy with. Getting a full body composition scan done this week, so looking forward terrified by the splits!

OP posts:
AndTime · 25/10/2021 13:58

That sounds really interesting, what happens?

Chocaholic9 · 25/10/2021 14:02

Wow. I'm shocked at the hateful words you shared from the person who texted you. That sounds like someone who is very unhappy in their own life and wants to spread the misery around and make others unhappy, too. I'm glad you're not letting it drag you down.

Finfintytint · 26/10/2021 22:06

I’ve had some feedback today that I’m bordering on obese. Really upset. It came from a nurse at a blood pressure clinic. I’m 5’2 and nine stone. I need to lose another one and a half stones. I feel I look ok. I’m a size eight to ten ( although I know vanity sizing exists) but at 54 years I thought I was doing ok….was a size 18 several years ago.

Hop27 · 27/10/2021 21:55

@Finfintytint - what an achievement to drop all that weight already !!
Try not to be too hard on yourself, easier said than done tho! Are you sure that's right, it doesn't seem it ? I know that obesity definitions can be skewed. For example most rugby players (even at elite level are classed as obese) not saying you look like a rugby player but might be worth looking at body composition. If your visceral fat is high then that's definitely something to address!
On my way to my body scan before work, will keep you all posted on the horror! Lol
