Cleanse/Detox- How do you do yours?

I've always turned to the 'Week 1 Attack Phase' of the Dukan Diet when I want to loose a few pounds, but it doesn't really leave me feeling 'healthy', although it works for the Weight loss.

Do any of you do a Cleanse/Detox week that leaves you feeling 'boosted' (if you know what I mean!)

If so, what does your week plan look like, how much do you loose and how do you feel after the week?

(I've 2 & 4 year old Dds so no time off for the gym/yoga if your week includes exercise like this, mines very much 24/7 mental and physical cardio!)

Thanks Grin

I'm also averaging about 4 hours broken sleep a night atm, which is why I'm reluctant to do the dukan this time round I really need the energy!

What is a “detox”? Your liver and kidneys between them already efficiently detox and excrete any waste products.
I think you mean you want to lose weight, not “loose” it.
I have a mental picture of you releasing little tubs of lard into the wild…Grin

It’s better to just aim at eating a healthy variety of food all the time, with plenty of veg and lean protein, rather than yo yo or crash diet.

Lack of sleep affects the hormones controlling satiety, making you crave carbs, so it would be good to try and increase your hours of sleep wherever possible.
I know this can be very difficult with toddlers, but try to get them into a good night time routine, and have some early nights yourself to catch up.
Once they are just a little older, you can get the whole family into sport and activities, which will help you to maintain a healthy weight too. Good luck!

OP, I know what you mean. Low carb, decent protein, no booze, water like it's going out of fashion, 10k steps a day.

Frazzledd · 05/10/2021 07:18

@Babdoc wow, how incredibly patronising.

Thank you for a more reasonable response @Bearyhumcrack.

Fwiw my children are in a good routine, my 2 year old is going through a sleep regression so waking through the night for settling, My 4 year old has just started school so it's a different routine.

I eat healthily (I'm 9stone, 5'8) so it's 6lbs I want to 'lose' Hmm as I fluctuate, the 'detox' is what some people tend to call a cleanse, for me that would be sugar/carbs (I don't drink alcohol).

Thread left, I was looking to see if anyone did this also for a week occasionally through the year and what their week looked like-

I always used to do a three to five day blitz after new year. No caffeine, no booze, lots of water and only fruit and veg ( lots of veggie soups). I did feel boosted afterwards - but the caffeine withdrawal headache was a killer. It really reset my appetite and stopped the indulgence.

I've been low-carbing for years now, so tend to do something like the Dukan/ Atkins induction. It's great for weight loss- but I agree, I don't feel as cleansed.

I've also done a mad egg fast, which may me lose 7lb in three days. Excellent to reset things after a holiday or something, but felt rather bleuuuughh and egg bound afterwards!

made me lose

I've not heard of the 'egg fast'? Off to Google! Thank you!

I think the caffeine is going to be a really difficult one to cut this time so just going to decrease...a little (said after 4 black coffees this morning.....!)

It's so weird you posted this as I woke up this morning feeling really crappy and sluggish - went out for a birthday afternoon tea yesterday which was lovely but obviously lots of scones, cakes, sandwiches and that sort of stuff, and I was thinking I really feel like I need some sort of cleanse to kickstart me a bit. I don't think I have the stomach or energy for juices or full on fasting (or eggs) at the moment.
