Stomach stone!

MillyStar9 · 03/10/2021 19:11

Hi everyone
Long time lurker here!
I would absolutely love to lose one stone. This sounds so simple but this stone all sits on my stomach. I know it does because in the last 6 years I’ve been through two dramatic events (divorce and emergency surgery) where the stone has come off and my stomach disappears. This stone stops me being the dress size down. I think my difficulty is I do a lot of exercise, this makes me hungry and I’m a picker, I also get very panicky if I’m hungry.
I eat a lot of sugary snacks, again I get panicky / hungry.
Anyone have any pearls of wisdom to help me?
Thank you

Ditch the sugar. Sorry.
I know how difficult it is, I have a huge sweet tooth but……

Numerous studies have indicated that excess sugar, mostly due to the large amounts of fructose, can lead to fat building up around your abdomen and liver

I also find if I eat a lot of sweet simple carbs then I feel like I can’t fill myself. I could just eat and eat. By not eating them I don’t crave them and I’m not half as hungry.
I’m a typical apple and my stomach is only slim if I’m lower end of my BMI but if you know yours goes if you are a stone lighter then you need to reduce your portions, so overall calories, and make better food choices
If your workouts are leaving you hungry what are you eating? Could you have a filling thick bowl of homemade veg soup before eating something else. If you fill yourself up with healthy, nutritious filling stuff it should also help you stop picking.

Thank you for the reply! You’re right. Sugar needs to go. Great idea about soup, I always forget about soup. Thank you

Up your protein to stop hunger. But yeah you need to ditch the sugar.

MillyStar9 · 04/10/2021 12:42

Thanks for replying. Do you have any suggestions for good filling protein snacks? I’m a veggie

If you eat eggs then boiled eggs is one.

gamerchick · 04/10/2021 14:15

It is, but there's only about 5 or 6g protein in an egg I think. I aim for around 90-100g protein a day but I weight train. I think the recommended is about 60g for women isn't it?

It's worth having a look at what has what. I eat meat and fish, I don't know if veggies eat fish. Tunas a good source but again it's fish. A Google should be able to tell you.

There are loads of snacky stuff out now high protein though. Just read the packet as some of it is deceiving.

I do weight training or cycling 5 days a week. Great suggestions and I will eat tuna. Egg and tuna salad for lunch tomorrow I think!

Kvarg

83 calories & 15g of protein in the raspberry one.
I have one for pudding after my dinner and it satisfies my craving for something sweet. Occasionally have one mid morning if I’m feeling hungry. I know they have sweeteners in, so not great, but they do the trick for me. There are lots of flavours, I love the lemon cheesecake one.

Although as a veggie I would like to point out that, if you eat Tuna, you are pescatarian not veggie.

I have been doing the FAST800 and lost a stone so far. It is healthy Mediterranean food combined with intermittent fasting. There’s a thread on here somewhere if you want to find out more.

Stellaris22 · 04/10/2021 17:09

I weight train/circuits 4 days a week and aim for over 100g protein a day, protein snacks are great now. I have a high protein (ready to drink) shake (ufit) immediately after a workout. I also love muller corners high protein yoghurts.

MillyStar9 · 04/10/2021 17:48

Thank you for the replies. I will look at those yogurts; I’m not really a veggie I’m just incredibly fussy about meat so generally easier to say I am veggie!
I have the fast800 book and recipe book and I’ve read threads on here. I do think it would be great for me.
Thanks so much for all the replies.

Aldi do protein yogurt pouches. 25g protein, 9.3g carbs, 0.7 g fat, 145 calories.

Guineapigbridge · 04/10/2021 21:20

Protein yoghurt
Tuna
Eggs
Chick peas
Beans
Lentils

Bin bread completely.

Dashel · 04/10/2021 21:38

From a veggie point of view, fat free Greek yoghurt is pretty good or get some protein powder and make some shakes or use it in smoothies

MillyStar9 · 05/10/2021 15:42

Thanks all. I had overnight oats with fruit for breakfast, a banana for snack, soup and protein yogurt for lunch and have a Gousto meal for dinner. Feeling good!

I would suggest ypu download My Fitness Pal and track everything. The app will also track your protein. I weight train and my goal is over120g of protein and less than 1400 kcals in a day. So that means 2 scrambled eggs with ham or smoked salmon for breakfast, salad with 125g prawns or deli chicken for lunch, greek 0% yogurt with fruit for snack and a lean protein (chicken, salmon, cod, prawns, lean steak mince) with a fat free sauce, vegetables and cauliflower rice for dinner. If I am under my protein I add a protein shake. Since I started the high protein diet I don’t feel hungry or run down.
