So can someone explain how burning calories works please?!
Do I need to be sweating to loose weight?
Or do I need to get my heart rate to a certain level to loose weight?
Thanks 😊

It's a sliding scale. Roughly speaking, higher heart rate = more cals burned in a unit of time.

But introduce weights and you can up your metabolism too

The accepted opinion is that you can’t lose weight simply by exercising. You can’t burn enough calories. Exercise is good for you but you simply have to eat less as well.

Exercise will tone your muscles and make you fitter and healthier (if you work hard at it) but it won't really make you lose weight unless you are doing absolutely shit-tons of it!

The calories aren’t actually “burnt” so sweating or not doesn’t matter. Although please rehydrate effectively. If you want to lose weight then you just need to CONSISTENTLY use more calories than you eat. This is a lot easier to control with food as you eat 3+ times a day yet perhaps exercise 3+ times a week, so more opportunities to get into that calorie deficit. There are lots of benefits to exercise though, good for your heart and health, self-esteem, strength etc. Best to just do what you enjoy the most as then you’re most likely to keep doing it!

You need to expend more than you take in. Simple. Real life isn't that easy..

The harder you exercise the more calories you’ll burn in any given minute but the less time you’ll be able to maintain. It’s not really possible to outrun a bad diet though so you should concentrate on that. Fitness is recommended but nutrition is required for weight loss.
