90kg/14 stone to lose - my journey.

I tried to do a thread for mutual support but it didn’t work, so I’m starting another one purely for me. If you want to join you’re more than welcome though.

I started at 176.3kg, I’m now 166.9kg. So I’m slowly but surely starting to make progress. I’ve lost 9.4kg or nearly 1.5 stone.

I want to get down to 85-90kg hopefully.

I used to be a massive crisp and chocolate eater, I’m talking easily 6-12 bags of crisps a day with goodness knows how much chocolate.

I had 6 months of therapy surrounding food and all that, and that has really helped. Still not perfect without support I was eating 6 bags once or twice a week but still a damnsite better than before. With support from family who I live with I eat one bag of crisps per day and one Freddo a day.

I used to just live off sandwiches but now I’m eating one sandwich per day and a proper meal for dinner and I am eating breakfast, usually just some toast.

Since March I was going to the gym 3 times a week with a personal trainer, I had to take a break from the gym due to mental health issues flaring up. But I’ve been back for 3 weeks and currently doing aqua aerobics twice a week and personal training sessions 2 times a week.

Obviously I’m not doing things perfectly but I think that would be pretty difficult. But what I’m doing is working so I’m happy with that.

I’ve lost the same 6kgs twice but I’m determined to keep going this time.

Well done. I’ll follow and watch. Might even motivate me. I’ve 5 stone minimum to lose.

wombatsandaplant · 14/09/2021 10:10

Thanks @CornishTiger hope I can motivate you even a tiny bit, good luck on your weight loss journey.

You can do it! It's a slog, but worth it. You will feel the difference soon as well. I went from 150 and a bit to 100 so far, still to go.
Keep on it. TOTALLY worth it for the feeling of being able to move easier, not worry about chair in strange places etc.
Whoop you! Great job so far!

wombatsandaplant · 16/09/2021 17:43

Thanks @Annoyedanddissapointed, and well done you, that’s amazing, I hope I can do similar.

Well done you! You'll be so glad you did this Smile

Can I ask how your family are supporting you? I'd love DH to be more supportive but he doesn't seem to know how. Maybe I need to spell t out for him, but I'm not even sure what to ask for!

Prisonbreak · 16/09/2021 18:13

Good on you! I’m down 3 stone with 1.5stone to go! We got this.

Annoyedanddissapointed · 16/09/2021 18:24

@wombatsandaplant

Thanks *@Annoyedanddissapointed*, and well done you, that’s amazing, I hope I can do similar.
You can. You already did great so just bear that in mind. And honestly, wobbles happen, steak and cream sauce with plenty of beer happens. Just normal life, so don't ever get demotivated. Like at school. You wouldn't drop out of college for 1 test grade out of your perfect plan, eh😁
APerfectSky · 16/09/2021 18:31

Can I ask what sort of therapy you had? I feel I need something like this. I have 6-7 stone to lose and feel completely out of control at the moment, I don't know how to stop the bingeing.. :(

wombatsandaplant · 16/09/2021 18:52

@UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername

My step mum (I still live at home due to being disabled though I’m 26) is helping me by keeping crisps and chocolate in her and my dads room so I can’t just go and take it. I really need this as I’m a food stealer, no where near as bad as I used to but I still do on occasion, and she cooks everything and just generally helps me keep my portions down. Probably not much that a partner could do really, sorry, not much help there.

Well done prisonbreak that’s amazing.

Thanks annoyedanddisapointed

@APerfectSky

I had compassion therapy and I think cbt of why I ate the food, and what it would achieve and how I could stop, and that I’m not hungry. My key take away was the I’m not actually hungry I just want the food. That key take away as that only worked once I’d worked throguh most of my issues. I’m not entirely sure that’s any help but I’m not great at describing stuff, sorry.

OP, I hope you don’t mind me suggesting this but have you considered bariatric surgery? You would probably be entitled to it on the NHS given your BMI. Dieting is a slog and losing 2 stone is hard enough, let alone 14. Most bariatric surgeons agree that once you reach a BMI of over 40, you have very little chance of getting to a normal weight without surgical intervention. I understand that you might not want to go down this path but if I were you I would consider it seriously.

wombatsandaplant · 17/09/2021 09:51

@Honestopinion23

I had considered it but it’s definitely not right for me. I’m successfully losing weight myself too, so definitely not something I’m considering anymore. But thanks for the thought.

Just done aqua aerobics, burned 720 ish calories woo.

Also had lunch before I left rather than eating a large meal from the club room.

@wombatsandaplant would it be ok for me to join you on this journey. I have around the same amount of weight as you to lose and having someone to do it with I think would be a massive help for me. My drive is that I want to become a mum and at this weight it wouldn't be safe for me or baby if I could even get pregnant. I intend to start tomorrow with it being a new week. Would it be ok to join you? Xx

wombatsandaplant · 25/09/2021 15:51

@mummyjojo19 yeah sure no problem. Welcome aboard.

wombatsandaplant · 25/09/2021 15:53

I only lost 300g last week but I did go out for two meals and had a whole massive Harry Potter chocolate frog. I was a bit disappointed but it’s still a loss so I’m happy with it.

Not sure how this week will go though.

mummyjojo19 · 25/09/2021 15:53

Amazing thank you. I have been trying to find someone around the same weight as me who also wants to lose the weight so I'm super glad I came across your post. We can do this x

wombatsandaplant · 25/09/2021 15:59

Yes we can. It’s hard finding someone a similar weight to you. I find most people are only looking to lose less than half the weight I am and it’s quite isolating. Glad you came across my post.

mummyjojo19 · 25/09/2021 16:36

I have been big for as long as I can remember but just seem to be getting bigger. I, like you have a soft spot for crisps they are most definitely my go to. The first thing that I am stopping tomorrow is diet coke. I drink soo much in a week its crazy so I am determined to move across to just drinking water. I know it will be hard but it has definitely helped me in the past x

mummyjojo19 · 25/09/2021 19:55

I also forgot to mention I have an umbilical hernia that needs operating o but they want me to lose weight first to make the surgery safer xx

wombatsandaplant · 26/09/2021 13:34

I went for a walk today to take some photos. My back hurt a wee bit but we walked for about half an hour, which was nice. And I got some good pictures.

OP posts:
wombatsandaplant · 27/09/2021 14:30

Weigh in day today.

I lost 1.2kg, so that’s me down 10.9kg so far. Down 24lbs for those that use lbs.

OP posts:
BeginningBridge · 31/10/2021 19:13

Can I join too? I need to loose 40 kg to be eligible to have a kidney transplant ( and probably a further 20 kg making 60 kg in total to get to a healthy weight).

I am thinking about bariatric surgery but see that as a last resort - I want to try to loose weight myself if possible.

How are you getting on op?

Sprostongreen21 · 02/11/2021 06:43

Just wanted to say well down and keep going. You can do this. If you have a blip don’t think oh well sod it and eat more . Move on immediately and carry on. You can do this.
