I weighed myself this morning and I am utterly disgusted. I’m 20 stone 10lbs. I know how to lose weight, I just can’t seem to find any willpower. I’m terrified for my health but still that’s not enough to kick start me? I’ve been a yo-yo dieter in the past but it’s been quite a few years now since I last successfully lost any weight.

I hear you. I'm in the same boat. At my absolute heaviest at the minute. Feel fed up. Which make me want to eat carbs for the 'instant feel better' fix. I just can't sort my shit out. Xx

Try reading Fast, Feast Repeat by Gin someone.... I've found it super helpful

You have to love yourself and want a new you so much that you resist food. The first day you take control will be the first day you feel different and better.

I'll second that, absolutely right Smile

3 months ago I was in exactly the same situation, but I started fresh one morning and haven't looked back since. Lost 3 stone so far, another 3 to go. There have been ups and downs, but well worth it.

Have faith in yourself and go for it!

Clear all the junk out of your cupboard and take it to the local food bank.

Start writing a diary. Every night. Write down how you feel, What you did, what was hard, what was easy. Just all your thoughts, not only relating to food. Write a list of goals in that diary and refer to it often.

Take it one day, one meal at a time. Don’t think oh shit, I failed because I ate some crisps therefore the whole day is a write off. Be gentle and say ok, I ate crisps, but the next meal is going to be such and such, healthful.

Read up on intuitive eating.

Lower the amount of white carbs you eat. We need far less than we eat. Get more protein and Whole Foods in. Limit your alcohol to the weekend or don’t have it at all.

Good luck!

Have also found Feast Fast Repeat by Gin Stephens really helpful. She does a podcast called Intermittent Fasting Stories as well that’s good. There’s also an intermittent fasting Reddit with lots of inspirational progress photos (including from people much heavier than you). I found intermittent fasting has worked well with low carb but you might not want to make too many changes at once. I like intermittent fasting as it just takes the option of food off the table for part of the day. I built up from 16:8 to 18:6 and now mostly do 20:4 which seems to work pretty well with the occasional longer fast.
