How long have you been intermittent fasting @Judystilldreamsofhorses? I did it for a while last year and got on really well - not sure why I lapsed!! I'm just working back up to it now.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 18/08/2021 10:50

@Submariner I am not sure it’s as official as that really! I’m a lecturer and off the whole summer, so got into the habit of sleeping late, then just eating with DP at lunchtime rather than having breakfast (he’s WFH too). We tend to have dinner at 7, so I then am strict about not having crisps in front of Love Island. Less strict about not having a glass of wine though. So yeah, not very official at all.

@Orcasmom how are you finding your weightloss at 1900 cals. I'm breastfeeding too and need to lose weight without it affecting my supply.

Orcasmom · 19/08/2021 02:30

Hi! It's actually been quite fast. I've been losing at least 3lb a week. I have added a few calories most days in the past week . I find that some days I can eat 1650 and be fine, others I need 2100. So at this point I'm being more intuitive about eating instead of placing my day to meet 1900 calories. I am still tracking food, mostly to see my macros. I need lots of protein and struggle to keep my fat below 40% (though my saturated fat is on target). I am a bit worried that I've lost weight too fast and will gain it right back but I don't think I've been too restrictive so maybe my body was just ready to let it go.

Just popping in - been for my C25K run this morning. I've been out for either a run or a walk every day this week and managed to avoid the wine last night after a stressful day at work. I've also kept to my step count.

I didn't have quite so much fruit and veg yesterday, but still had quite a bit so not too worried about that. Weighed this morning and I have lost 1.4 lbs - it will be water weight but I'll take it!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 19/08/2021 11:18

Checking in - I weighed 10/7 yesterday, but 10/8 today. Still 1lb off.

A win and a fail from me...

Win - last night I was desperate to eat crisps, but had a teaspoon of peanut butter instead.

Fail - having that must have "re-awakened" my digestive system, as after weeks of not eating until after 12, I have been starving all morning. I had a soft boiled egg with half a slice of toast and Marmite cut into soldiers, and feel stupidly guilty for it.

I had quite disordered eating in my late teens/early 20s so need to watch myself. I'm now 40s and need to remind myself that I'm a healthy weight for my height and a size 10, so it is fine to eat an egg!

Orcasmom · 20/08/2021 17:38

It's so easy to fall into the trap of thinking eating is bad. It's a bit concerning that you think eating such a small and nutrituous breakfast is problematic but it sounds like you're aware. I do the same though - if I'm really hungry in the afternoon I might eat a string cheese and 6 almonds and then feel bad about myself because I didn't really 'need' it. I think any time we're being intentional about what we eat should be considered a win not a fail!

MaryBoBary · 20/08/2021 18:47

Hi everyone, so far so good this week. Last night I skipped the chicken nuggets and chips with the family and had some cous cous, salad and flat garlic mushrooms. It was so tasty and I genuinely didn't miss the chips! Other than that though I've just been watching my portion size and avoiding eating for as long as possible in the morning. I'm also counting all calories on MFP. BUT I have a big family meal on Sunday at a relatives house so I'm sure it will go out of the window then. I have the sort of family that are mortally offended and don't stop asking if you're ok when on a diet. Like it is completely gobsmacking that I'm not eating 8 roast potatoes! But I will try!

MaryBoBary · 20/08/2021 18:48

I'll try not to eat too much - not try to eat 8 roast potatoes!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/08/2021 00:43

@MaryBoBary I love roast potatoes!

@Orcasmom it’s so long since I had breakfast that it just felt weird and wrong. But I have made a very conscious effort to not think on foods as “good” or “bad” over the years - I really hate that language - so I need to be kinder to myself.

Anyway, today I had “brinner” for dinner - grilled sausages and bacon, potato waffle, beans, and a poached egg, and it was delightful! I did 12,000 steps, and things tend to be a lot more relaxed here over the weekend, so I am fine with it. I am not logging calories, just trying to eat more sensibly and mindfully. Back to 10:7 this morning.

MaryBoBary · 21/08/2021 09:41

@Judystilldreamsofhorses Food of the Gods Wink

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 23/08/2021 10:54

How is everyone doing? I am fluctuating between 10 stone 7 and 8, depending on whether I use the loo first thing (sorry if TMI) so 1lb off, maybe 2. Hope everyone has had a good week!

MaryBoBary · 24/08/2021 15:47

I had a great week, lost 6lb but fell right off the wagon yesterday because of it. Seems quite drastic but I was on my period when I first weighed which I assume may have meant lots of water retention? I don't know but I'm not expecting to see that result again this week. As soon as I have a bit of success I start snacking again. Need to put yesterday aside and get motivated again.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 27/08/2021 09:51

Checking in - has everyone disappeared? I’ve been 10/7 all week but the last couple of days have involved a birthday, so not great eating-wise! I’ve kept steps up though at least.

Submariner · 28/08/2021 11:30

Hey @Judystilldreamsofhorses - I'm here! 👋 But I've also been on the 18 weeks to Christmas thread which is a bit livelier if you fancy coming over and joining us?
