I'm losing weight but I look worse!

I've lost about 5kg (so far) as a result of cutting out all proceeded foods including flours and alcohol. Great, right. Admittedly I look bit better dressed as my stomach no longer protrudes.

But now my face is a bit saggy Sad and naked, I have to say I look worse Confused. My legs are showing more cellulite and my stomach is now kind of flabby.

Oh god, you're going to tell me to do situps and weight training, aren't you.

FML.

I cannot recommend highly enough Jillian Michaels for sorting out the sagging from weight loss. Short bursts of cardio with weight training circuits. Beginner Shred is a really good one to start with.

Ooh okay I'll take a look.

Skin can take up to two years to shrink (not sure that's the right word), so you might look worse before you look better. But weight training can help too to give more muscle definition.

Definitely do strength training 3x a week or so and you will tighten up.

Suzi888 · 12/08/2021 22:29

Yes something like body blast, weights and repetition. It’s really good for you, especially your joints etc (so gym instructor told me!) Good luck,’it does work, you’ll tighten up and it doesn’t take ages to get results. Well done on the weight loss! Smile

Well done on the weightloss!
I would do strength training, make sure you get lots of sleep and drinks lots of water. Moisturise your skin regularly and take a good multivitamin.

You have to choose between your ass or your face
I think Jo lo said this 😂

First Congratulations!

I am in a similar position and have been swimming alongside SlimmingWorld (13 weeks in and just short of 2 stone gone - 1 more to go).

After 6 weeks of swimming - not fast / breast stroke/ 40-5 minutes 3-6 times a week - I can see my body toning up - even my arms!

Waveafterwaveslowlydrifting · 15/08/2021 17:08

Weight training is great. Don't be scared of it! I don't lift heavy weights; I do body pump classes 3 times a week plus 2 Zumba classes. If you buy some weights you can do free workouts online at home. Feeling string is awesome and my body shape has changed so much in just a couple of months.

TrueRefuge · 15/08/2021 20:42

I think any exercise will help this, and doesn't have to be super intense. Anything that gets the muscles toned up once or twice a week if that's all you can hack. And as PP said, skin shrinks very slowly, so take it slow and steady and play the long game.

Amazing job on the weight loss - keep going!

Guineapigbridge · 15/08/2021 20:47

I swim 1200m twice a week and ride in my road bike 30km once a week. So I'm exercising 3 x a week. Sedentary job though. I think I need to incorporate weights and maybe lower my expectations, I am in my forties. It's good to know it takes time. Perhaps patience will help.

You don't need to lift heavy weights! I only have 3kg and 5kg weights and have seen huge changes. Not to my face though, sadly!

Runrigdan · 16/08/2021 08:08

It's the change in my face that's bothering me the most. My body looks much better but I seem to have aged 10 years!!
