I’ve eaten and drank my way through covid because of anxiety and boredom and now I can’t stop. I used the gave control over myself but now I just can’t seem to get started. Any tips for me?

I am exactly the same. I hope someone will be along to help us step away from the fridge.

Instead of jumping straight into restriction, I did a week of cutting back. Cleared out the cupboards. Nibbled away at the Xmas treats, before chucking/freezing them. By the end of the first week I'd lost 5 lbs just from that!

Take it a stone/half a stone at a time. I lost my first two stone in 11 weeks. I felt so good I kept going and am now over 4 stone. Once you see your success, you'll want to keep going, too. Good luck! Smile

@MattDamon Wow! That's an amazing loss.

I'm taking things just one day at a time ... failing at everything I try ( diet wise ) so stepping back and trying to be a bit kinder to myself

I am exactly the same

I Signed up to weight watchers in 1 June.

Its been one month now . I have lost 11llbs so far. I need to lose another 1.5 stone ideally.

I feel better But best of all, I feel in control again and strong

I'm the same. I've stopped and started so many diets but keep gaining and losing the same few pounds!

Gerbi1 · 04/07/2021 22:43

I’m glad I’m not the only one. I just keep saying… I’ll start on Monday but by 6pm I’m eating pizza and chocolate.
It’s really not like me at all to not be able to stop. I guess I’m just blood sugar yoyoing. I just need to find some will power from somewhere

I’ve realised it’s nearly summer holidays and it’s harder when kids are home. I’m calorie counting and having one slim fast shake at lunch because it’s low calorie, easy and can fit around work. I’m taking it a week at a time with daily weighing to keep me focused. Week 1 ends tomorrow but I’m 4lbs down so hoping for 1/2 a stone off by end of term. I didn’t have a shake yesterday but still counted calories. I need to lose a stone but as I said, one week at a time so it feels less daunting.

I was like you and then one day I had enough and the motivation just arrived. It was the day I could no longer fit in my jeans, so it was either buy a size up or live in joggers/leggings.

I tried to replace the urge to snack on junk with something healthier. I'm working my way through various fruit teas right now - not as good as chocolate but it's a distraction. In the evenings if I want to lie on the sofa eating I try and force myself to go out for a walk instead.

I do still have chocolate but I plan my calories on MFP and have lower calorie options like maltesers or a ripple.

It's really early days for me, I'm only two weeks in so no expert but I do think the urge to snack has definitely reduced. I'm 3.5 lbs down as well.

I watched that programme on tv about processed food and have tried to cut down. I think it was called ‘what are we feeding our kids’ on bbc.
It really put me off junk food.

Me too, iv eaten my body weight in crap plus I started smoking again after kicking the habit for two years, figured if we're all gonna die of covid I'm going out happy 🙄
Anyway I'm still alive, fat but iv given up smoking again 😊

I've lost 2stone since March, I'm just determined, I'm 54 and losing is so much slower for me now than it has ever been so I have to be quite strict. I drink water constantly, 3-4l a day. I avoid white carbs as much as possible and avoid snacking.
