Belly fat, I look pregnant

I've always been on the larger side and last year went up to 16 stones and 10lbs, I felt awful.
Since January, I've lost 24lbs, really slow going but at least I've kept it off so I'm pleased with that although I want to lose another 2 stones.
I'm usually having around 1200 to 1500 calories per day, I recently started swimming again and that's killing me as I'm using muscles I'd forgotten about.

However, my belly looks like im pregnant, like 6/7 months. I've never had a flat belly and 2 kids later, I know that isn't going to happen. But my god, it's massive, I feel so bloated, sluggish so what can i realistically do? You can't Google about this because then a whole load of crap comes up so I thought I'd ask here.

Firstly you have done great so far. A slow loss is a sustainable loss and means you are doing it sensibly.

In regards to your belly fat - there will be some of it that will just be loose skin from pregnancy stretching, but it’s mostly just the fat that you still want to lose. If you have 2 stones to go then wait till you get there and worry about it then, I bet by time you get there it’s fine.

Thank you, you're probably right but sometimes I feel like one of those wibble wobbles as it feels so solid and heavy.

Do you drink Pepsi or Cola? I used to drink 2lts a day of Pepsi Max and refused to listen to the ones saying give it up. Well, I did in the end and got rid of a lot of bloating too! I'm also doing 16:8 as that's supposed to help your belly go down too. Good luck!

No I tend to stay off fizzy drinks because of bloating. And white bread, white rice, pasta, you know, just all the usual stuff that brings pleasure! Grin

Please go and get that checked out at the GP. Bloating like that could be nothing, but also could be something more sinister.

Congratulations! I get bloating if I eat certain veg, especially brassicas, mushrooms and peppers.

Might be worth seeing if you have IBS?

Youdoyoutoday · 02/07/2021 11:32

Thanks, I'll do some research on it, it's impossible to get through to my doctors.

Seriously - please keep trying. I don't want to worry you unnecessarily, but it really needs to be checked out.

Egghead68 · 02/07/2021 11:58

Please get checked by your GP. Do not leave this.

It is probably nothing but abdominal bloating can be a symptom of ovarian cancer. It needs checking out.

I was bloated and in pain for years because I can't digest fibre. Have you tried giving it up for a few days? It takes 2 - 3 days for my digestive system to settle, and voila! Flat stomach. If you give up fibre for a few days, you won't cause yourself any long term problems, and might find the crux of the problem.

Doctors and all the advice I ever had said 'Eat more fibre'. I was so pissed off at first that nobody considered the simple solution of doing the opposite, but these days I'm just happy to be 2 belt holes down!
