I've never dieted, always been slim. Until lockdown 2 where I injured myself and now size 14! (used to be an 8).
So simple move more, eat less. Using Garmin/Map my fitness I work out a 1400calorie a day limit to lose 1-2ib a week, steadily.
A week in and I seem to be hungry in afternoon and at night. just had a kitkat cos its 10 calories and I'm hungry!

I'm eating Ryvita crackerbread, fruit, salads and munch on carrots when hungry. Low calorie food basically and avoiding 'treats'. making better choices-snacking on nuts.
Any advice? I just want to be more comfortable and lose a stone or so!

Thanks!

If you've cut carbs yes you'll feel hungry for a couple of weeks while you're body figures out the lack of quick sugar access.

However you haven't listed any protein or fat in your list of what you're eating, and you do need those, they help you feel full longer and your body needs some of all the food groups including good fats, good carbs, protein, fruit and veg.

Try including eggs, nut butters or avocados, dairy like full fat Greek yoghurt or cottage cheese.

Oh and drink lots of water, like lots of water. For my weight I'm supposed to drink about 3 lts a day, there are calculators online that give a guide but generally about 2-3 lts is right.

Use your calories on protein rich foods to keep you filled up.

Yeah if you just eat everything low cal you won’t be full up and it’s worse
You need to drink water but if you are still hungry make sure you are eating protein
Ryvita often just leaves you hungry again pretty quickly, I’m far better off having some heavily seeded bread and eggs for a meal and I get more mileage out of them!

Read this book :Why we eat too much by Andrew Jenkinson

Honestly if you've never dieted don't start now as the famine will make you put all the weight back on and more . He does have solutions at the end.

I wished I'd read this book 20 years ago - although it's brand new - it really is jaw dropping !

Are you sure a kit jar is 10 calories? I thought they were more like 98/100?

You need low cal / high volume things to keep you full. Vegetables are probably the best thing.

Ah great, thanks! @Marmite27 thats a mis-type, sorry! I meant 104 calories!! It tasted goooooood!!
I haven't cut out carbs completely, just reducing the crap I eat! Toast and pnut butter for breakfast!
Have to say its working, I've lost 3-4lbs already! But I wont keep it up if I'm hungry. I want to do this right and eat to a calorie deficit.
Eggs are good, I'll incorporate those, thanks! and protein-I'll definitely include that!
Drinking plenty water and reducing my cups of tea.
@Perdigal I'll have a look at this book, thanks.

Really helpful tips, thank you! Loving this topic so far!
