Why has my willpower changed after a difficult setback

I lost two and half stone this year for IVF. I did this though a combination of fast 800 ish and "James Duncan" diet ish. So very low calorie diets. It was pretty easy In the swing of it. About 900 cals a day except Saturday.

Then I got pregnant (yay) and obviously 900 cals a day is probably not advisable when growing a tiny human. I tragically lost the baby at 9'weeks and had surgery last week l. I put in around 5lb and now I am 2lb over my lowest weight.

We have to go back to the consultant in two weeks for another referral to the ivf clinic.

So why can't I get back in the fast800 mindset! I really want to lose another 10lbs to take me to BMI 27.

I'm hovering around 85kgs which was the weight the consultant gave
Me as a target but it's still slightly over the magic BMI 30 so I need to ideally get below it.

Not only that I have really enjoyed being slimmer again feel so much better. Bought loads of new clothes and was a real confidence boost.

Help!?

Couldn't just read and run. So sorry for your loss. Flowers
Well done on the weight lost so far. Maybe you need to up your calories a little, just to get back into the swing of things? I wish you well for the future. Smile

Eat well, lots of protein and veg, go easy on the dense carbs and take some more exercise. Extreme diets are impossible to go back to once you've come off them... that's why they're just a short term fix.

I'm so sorry for your loss Flowers

I hope you're ok

If you're trying to get pregnant 900cals a day doesn't sound enough to me (though speak to your consultant). I'm
70kg and eating 1600cals lose 1kg a week before I get out of bed so it must be falling off you!

I'm fine thank you I think I am desensitised if that makes sense and is even a thing.

@randomkey123 it makes sense what you say and that I have to try a different approach. It's so weird from having been so "in the zone" and doing it, now it seems insurmountable.

I will maybe have a rethink. @73kittycat73 maybe I will try that and just do a damage limitation.

@User0ne I was trying to lose two stone to qualify for IVF before I failed to qualify due to age. 1600 calories would not work for me. I'm glad it is working well for you.

I tried fast 800 last year and lost about a stone in a month. I've not been able to go so low since, and vowed I never would again! lol I just couldn't do it again, hence my advice to you to try again but up your calories.

cherrypiepie · 28/06/2021 22:21

@73kittycat73 a stone in a month is impressive!

It's quite brutal but I felt amazing as I was eating so clean- and I felt proper smug Grin

Thank you -I really do think I need to go back to the drawing board it's only two weeks till my appointment and as long as I don't gain I will be fine.

I think I need to be a bit kinder to myself. Its really helpful talking it through so thank you.
