Aiming to Lose 10lb over summer and EXERCISE

The last few months have taken a toll on my waistline. I'm not sure what happened but I seemed to lunge from one takeaway to the next, one bottle of wine to the next. And now I'm about 10lbs heavier than I want to be.

I've been WFH since March 2020 so not walking to/from the station. Plus all the pools/gyms shut last year. So I haven't really done any meaningful exercise in over a year.

So, time to sort it out Grin

I am aiming to lose my 10lbs excess weight over summer and start doing exercise again. I CBA with pools/gyms at the moment because of strict arrival times and booking time on machines etc. so I'm just going to work out in my kitchen.

The plan is to eat about 1,200 calories per day and exercise 3 times per week for about 15-20 minutes. As I build up stamina, I'll increase the intensity of the exercise and start to build in strength work. For now, I just need to move a bit Grin

I try to be close to 100% vegan. I've found the Bosh books really great for recipes so I'm working my way through those ATM.

I'm going to use this thread to keep a log for myself but if anyone wants to join me, you'd be more than welcome to join for moral support!

Todays plan:
25g of bran flakes for breakfast (about 120 cals)
Jackfruit fishcake and salad for lunch (about 350 cals)
Vegan chilli for tea (about 600cals)
25g of bran flakes for evening snack (about 120cals)
Plus cups of tea throughout the day will take me to about 1250 cals
I'll take the dog for a 25 minute stroll which will burn about 50 cals - she's very very slow
I don't think I'll get time for a kitchen workout because I have meetings until late. Dammit!

I started the fast 800 on Saturday at 9st 4.8. This morning I was 9st 0.4. I’m planning on just powering through a week of this, see how I feel and then either do another week or do 5:2 until I'm 8 and a half stone again.

Yep, that's me. I've lost a few then put them back on every couple of months consistently since last March. If I can shed 10lbs now (maybe a bit more) that'll give me some room to bounce up a couple of pounds without it being a disaster.

Yesterday was a good day. My lunch was a bit lighter (left over chilli) so I got very hungry mid-afternoon and had a bag of Hula Hoops Blush

But I think, calorie-wise, it balanced out to about 1,200 for the day.

I did a 15 minute kitchen workout which felt stupid but I was sweating and my legs hurt today so it must've done something good!

Today I've had bran flakes for breakfast, red pepper cous cous for lunch, and the potato chaat for tea later on.

Tomorrow I've got a 90 minute round trip on foot to do so I'll definitely get my exercise in.

How are you doing?

I weighed myself this morning and I was 1.5lbs lighter than Monday. There is absolutely no way that's dropped off in four days so I think Monday's reading must have been wrong maybe I needed a poo

It doesn't matter, I'm still ploughing on with the 1,200 cals a day plan until I get to where I want to be both weight-wise and waist-wise.

Tomorrow I'm out with a friend for drinks so I'll be as good as I can. But it's 1.5 miles there, 1.5 miles home so walking there/back will counter-act some of the extra calories I'm bound to have.

What are your weekend plans?

My weekend plans will mainly revolve around skipping around in delight: just weighed in at 8st 12.2!!! This fast 800 is amazing! I thought it was just for people with a lot to lose but 6 and a half pounds in a week for a short arse like me with only 10-14lbs to lose, is incredible. I’ve lost an inch off my waist, an inch off my bum and half an inch off my tummy too. In a week. Shock

I’m going to do another week and then see how I feel.

How was your weekend? Congratulations on your amazing loss so far!

Saturday night I actually ended up at the pub just around the corner so I didn't have a 3 mile round trip. Ah well. I think I probably went to my calories with the pizza we had but I didn't drink any alcohol so that was good.

Yesterday I was trudging around garden centres and potting up so I think I might've burnt some calories there. Otherwise, I stuck to 1,200 so that's good.

Same today, plans for 1,200. Food is pretty usual...
Bran flakes for breakfast
Vegan meatballs in tomato sauce with brown rice for lunch
Vegan rendang with naan for tea

I decided against weighing myself today but I might do it Wednesday Grin

Do you have any plans for the week?

Hi your night out sounds lovely and well done for swerving the alcohol.

We had a family do at the weekend so there was wine and ice cream and fun times, I didn’t bother counting calories and just had the day off! Back on it today - yesterday I felt quite hungry and had about 1400 calories but I’ve still lost a little more this morning: 8st 11.6 Grin

Back on 800-1000 and full steam ahead!

I’d like to join in too. I have put on 10lbs in the last couple of months. I had wanted to lose a bit more before that so very disappointed to have piled it back on. I’ve basically been eating junk food and chained to my desk wfh and not moving!
I am vegan too so will share what I am eating. Aiming for 1500 cals but now wondering if I should aim for less.
Yesterday I had:
Overnight oats with raspberries
Black bean and brown rice bowl with sweetcorn, avocado and tomatoes
Tofu bowl with homemade houmous, baby potatoes, carrots, cucumber and salad

I went to the gym for an hour last night and yoga tonight

Welcome! Yup, eating junk and not moving over here too.

For Vegan recipes, I'm absolutely in love with the Bosh books. The recipes are really easily and use lots of the same ingredients so once you've got them in, you'll go through them. Never thought I'd finish a box of nutritional yeast but I have done Grin

I would love to read some of your vegan recipes, I'm always on the hunt for new ideas.

I will weight myself tomorrow and let you know how I'm getting on.

Today's food is:
Bran flakes for breakfast
Walnut, red pepper, paprika cous cous followed by a handful of sweets Blush for lunch
Probably vegan hotpot for tea (even though its not really hotpot weather here!!!)

Thanks Euphorbia. I am having the same breakfast and lunch again today as I food prepped on Sunday for Mon/Tues. I’ve found that’s key for me as work gets busy and I don’t make myself a nice fresh lunch like I convince myself I will!
We have a Bosh book my partner bought so will take a look tonight :D
Have you ever made seitan? My partner makes it and it’s very high protein with low fat and carbs so may ask him to make one for the rest of my lunches this week.

I had another 1.5lbs off this morning and I'm absolutely buzzing. I'm due on my period in the next 4-5 days so my weight and bloating will all go a bit haywire but happy to see another 1.5lbs dropped Grin

I was bolstered by my 1.5lbs loss yesterday so did some kitchen exercises this morning. I started off following a workout video on YouTube but switched it off, put on some 90s boy/girl bands and just danced Grin

It was great but I'm knackered now.

Last night mushroom keema with chapatis for tea.

I’ve stayed the same this week, not surprising really after big loss last week! I have lost another half an inch off my bum though which is great!

I’m toying with the idea of doing up and down days this week, so 1800 calories one day and 800 the next. I think that’ll give me more energy to do some workouts which will help.

How are you both getting on?
