Weather has changed and I'm disgusted with how fat I've become so drastic action needed.
My plan is diet and exercise but wondering about shakes- the protein works or similar? If I do breakfast and lunch of that tha fruit snacks then evening meal of protein and veg/salad?

No listen up... you're in a similar position to me and the fast weight loss crap like shakes will just not work and you'll likely end up in a worse position further down the line!

The easiest way and believe me I've lost 5lb this week... is calorie restricting. I'm eating 1600 calories a day and losing 2-5lb a week and I'm eating more than enough.

Don't punish yourself with strict diets as they don't work as you probably know

ChoccyLatte · 29/05/2021 18:22

And it took me about 5 years to even give calories reduction a try. I was doing all the diets I could find because I thought it had to be difficult, dh was always telling me just to restrict calories and I never listened. I didn't think it could be this easy

Thanks @choccyLatte so can I pick your brains as I know nothing about calories- what is your typical day ? So 1600 calories is a good aiming point? Do you log food to know the calories?

Of course, you can calculate your allowance here www.jamessmithacademy.com/macro-calculator/

I do write it all down as I go, I've been having bagels and Philadelphia for lunch, normal dinners but counting my calories for it.

I think it helps being able to have what you want even chocolate etc as long as it's inside your calories.

Also if you're calories are 1600 per day you could eat 1500 for 6 days and then 2200 on one day.

@choccyLatte thankyou so much for your help!

That's ok, you can do it :)

I do shakes and have lost 15lbs so far, it’s like any diet including calorie counting. You will pile it all back on if you go back to doing what you did before.

I've been successful recently doing the shakes too - it's helped not having much proper food in the house ... and makes me drink plenty of liquid too as that's required with shakes
4 a day and about 3 L if I can ... lost 10lbs in last 2 weeks so far
It's no different to any other eating plan ... if you go back to crap you'll pile it all back on
