Weightloss after stopping breastfeeding

Hello

I have breastfed DD for 16 months and weaned her off 10 days ago. I have gained a pound since stopping. I did not loose any weight whilst breastfeeding. Infact I gained 4 kilograms during breastfeeding phase. I was hoping atleast some weight would drop off after stopping the feeds. Did anyone go through the same? If so, how long did it take for you to loose the weight with or without exercise?

I recently stopped after 28 months.

I found that I had lost all of my pregnancy weight gain after 6 weeks but in lockdown I gained a whopping 2 1/2 stone!!! I found it really really hard to limit my food intake whilst breastfeeding and was really looking forward to the weight ‘dropping off’ me like I’ve heard others say.

Sadly, I’ve since gained 6 pounds and I’m super disheartened!

Thanks @Pinchmybun for sharing your experience. I know it is wishful thinking. Could the reason for our recent weight gains be harmones trying to settle down. I have read somewhere that it takes 6-8 weeks for the harmones to go back to pre-pregnancy levels.

I think this is my club! I lost all my baby weight straight away and then put it all back on and more over lockdown with breastfeeding. The tiredness made me rely on easy to prepare carbs and a lack of exercise didn't help much either.
I think about the hormone theory too, like perhaps our bodies were made to gain weight for growing the baby and then it never settled properly back into not easily holding the weight because of breastfeeding.
Hoping to be strict on myself with food from now on 24 months pp, and start exercising daily.
