Really proud of myself today.....

Last night things went a bit sideways and we ended up getting a takeaway which was definitely not the plan. Will have sent me WAY over calories.

I was so disappointed in myself this morning and usually, I’d say that would have led to me writing off the weekend to start again on Monday.

Anyway, today I have stayed well within calories (but not punished myself) and been for a 12k step walk as planned. So just got up and got back on it without looking back. I drew a line and cracked on.

Sounds silly but I am so proud of myself.

Don't feel disappointed in yourself, everyone deserves a treat once in a while and it's not going to set you back really, so don't worry about it.

Be proud of yourself, keep going and enjoy a take away every so often as a reward for staying on track the rest of the time.

Not silly at all. You are doing great. You do not need every day to go to plan, there will always be a mixture but the overall trend is what counts. You never need to write off a day or weekend as a "lost cause" but it is fine to be kind to yourself and cut yourself a little slack when you need the flexibility.

Thanks both.

Just coming back to say I don’t know what’s happened but I’ve had a sort of lightbulb moment. I’m trying to make changes for the long term and doing it consistently (rather than dogmatically) is what counts.

Coming out of lockdown, I’ve got social occasions on all 4 of the next weekends. All food, drink or both centred.

The old me would have thought there was no point in ‘starting’ until after this, but the new me is doing what I’m doing 6 days per week, and on that other day doing what I’m doing around the event, but fully enjoying the event (if that makes sense!).

I’m most likely not going to be losing any fat in this time, but I’m building habits and learning to enjoy life whilst also making changes for the better.
