Ovreena for weight loss?

I went to the doctor for blood tests. The main issue being my trying to lose weight for three years and not being able to but I have some other symptoms; hair falling out and tiredness being the main ones. He prescribed me Ovreena, the combined pill. I don't see how the pill is going to help!

Does anyone have experience of Ovreena? Did it help with weight loss resistance, thinning hair, tiredness?

Hi There,
i read your post and I was also wondering if ovreena will help with your hair loss if it was already issue. My problem is I have a PCOS diagnosis among another dual autoimmune disorder. I have been on Diannette for over 10years to control my pcos. Diannette is an androgen lowering contraceptive pill which stops hair loss and improves acne and weight. Diannette was prescribed by my endocrinogist for this reason and it improved my hair and skin hugely. Due to the risks associated with Diannette my doctor took me off it after 10yrs as hadn’t been back to endocrine. My Doctor prescribed me ovreena over a year ago as their wasn’t as much hormonal fluctuations as Diannette. However I noticed my hair beginning to thin again about 6 months ago and I started using rogaine with minimal improvement. After doing some research a few weeks ago I have discovered ovreena was the whole cause. Ovreena is in the high androgen index for contraceptive pills. Which would worsen my problem for hair loss and pcos. Pcos suffurers need to keep androgen levels low as they are sensitive to the affects of androgens in their bloodstream. I have now switched to yasmin which is an androgen lowering pill which should improve my hair and regulate hormones. Yasmin is made up of the same hormones as diannette but not as high oestrogen. I know it’s a while since your post but I’d love to know how your experience was with ovreena so far as some of your symthoms may sound like pcos.

I am on that as I was diagnosed with premenstrual dysphoric disorder. I started late last year. I think that is what has helped me to lose weight. I was 11st 11lbs. I had started exercising in April for two months lost few pounds. Then stopped, I ate what I wanted didn't workout I weighted my self end of November I was 10st 13. For so long I was unable to get past 11st. I'm 10st 10 now. It's going very slowly now but I'm so happy to be past 11st as I'm only 5ft 4. Still have a long way to go.
