Noom

Hi everyone , can anyone explain what Noom actually is ? Is it an eating plan with motivational support and suggested fitness activities? Do you think it's worth paying? It's so hard to get a true reflection on its method prior to signing up . When I went through the Matrix , it even asked me how much I wanted to pay ???? That makes me suspicious. Would love to hear from others experience of using Noom , thank you !

Good luck with it - hope it works for you 😀

I used it for 4 months between October and Feb this year. I lost just over 2 stone and have been maintaining since then.
It's the usual food logging, but then daily articles to read through which I found really useful.
There is also a group chat thing which i didn't use but might be useful to some.
I signed up for the free trial, cancelled at the end and got offered a cheaper rate which I took.
Also you do get the option of a coach but I did not use that really.
So far it's worked for me.

@OhhelpohnoitsMarkRuffalo

You mean the marketing? Hmm So other than you not liking the marketing (which is not to everyone’s taste) there is no MLM part to it and I think it’s quite unfair to tar it with the MLM brush.
I said it had the feeling of a MLM- the constant spamming

It ints a very British marketing approach- it makes it seem like the emperors new clothes

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 09/05/2021 06:30

never been involved/spammed by mlm, but several emails offering 'deals'' starting within minutes of me closing the web page, all focussed on getting my card details....`
That, and the comments above about US foods and cups made me unsubscribe and plump for Second Nature.
bad choice of words there - I will not use the word plump
and I must choose a healthier username Grin DuvetDay is from the start of lockdown.

jannyapple · 09/05/2021 06:50

Just going to do a search of "second nature" thank you !
Duvetday sounds good for this miserable cold wet dull grey vile day 🙄

it's sunny here!
there's another thread where I've been asking people about second nature - someone that's done/doing it will be able to PM you a discount code.
the online questionnaire isn't too different from noom - except no need to enter email address or credit card details. (or emails addressing you as a Noomer - that's a weird bit cultish!)

thecatsabsentcojones · 16/05/2021 09:23

I’ve done Second Nature which I didn’t get on with. Just started on Noom which is definitely easier, if something isn't on there you can scan the barcode. Really loving that it gets my exercise data off my Apple Watch then increases calorie quota for the day, it’s a real incentive to exercise. Not sure it’ll be a quick fix in terms of rapid weight loss but I’m looking more for a slow result that’s sustainable and I will keep doing, the more extreme diets I’ll do for a short time and then stop because I’m so ruddy starving.

MorbidMuch · 17/05/2021 07:32

I've been doing Noom for 3 weeks now after previously trying and ultimately failing multiple times to have the self-discipline to do it all by myself using my Fitbit.

I'm enjoying it. I signed up for the free trial and was going to be strict about cancelling if I wasn't engaging with all aspects of it, but I am.

I like the articles and quizzes (even though they are a bit cheesy) and I think that they are helping me to shift my mindset. My goal is to have sustainable healthy habits in addition to losing some weight.

I also like the fact that I don't feel so hungry on this as I have when doing it by myself. The calorie density thing does work with me. Also because it isn't demonising / cutting out whole food groups. Although sometimes foods initially come up as cups, you can swipe and change them to different units. Barcode scanning means it finds most UK things.

The personal coach and group coach & members help me feel more accountable and I like hearing about people's lives all over the world. There are about 50 of us in my group.

I've lost 4lbs in 3 weeks.

I've paid for the next 3 months, so I'll try to keep it up until then and evaluate again!

I guess it just depends what kind of thing motivates you.

jannyapple · 17/05/2021 08:14

Thank you @MorbidMuch good luck that success will continue
Thank you everyone
I decided against it in the end but am disciplined to using my Fitbit ,
MFP and a desire to look better by the summer Confused

Best of luck Jannyapple! Smile

I've been doing Noom for a month. I've lost 8 pounds so far. Finding it pretty good. My calorie allowance is 1,200 per day. I don't see how anyone can seriously describe that as a very high calorie allowance. Confused

It doesn't feel sleazy or like a cult or mlm. I just read my course stuff for today and it talks about food from Tesco (specific items). I don't use their Instagram. It helps me think about what I'm eating and why.

I actually think losing any more than 2 pounds a week would be too much for me. I don't want to do unrealistic vlc.

Walkers crisps are very much there:-
