Weight loss for vegetarians

LargeInCharge · 16/04/2021 12:55

Hello!
I’ve been a vegetarian nearly all my life and I want to lose weight to be healthier (and to look better in my clothes) so I thought I’d create a space where fellow veggies (and vegans too) can share their weight loss journeys, food ideas, recipes and how they are feeling.

I started my journey on Tuesday so this is day 4 for me. My daily calorie limit is 1200.

Weight - 15st 4 (weighed on day 1)
Height - 5’ 9
Goal weight - 10st 7

How I gained weight - not exercising, eating crisps, cake, too many carbs and booze.
Positive changes - trying to be more active, ditched the crisps, cake and booze. Limiting my carbs as much as I can.

No pressure to reveal weight or anything that’s personal to you.

Good luck. 🥗🌽🥦🥬🥕🥒🫑🥑🥭🍅🍑🍓🍌🥥🫐

Well done @LargeInCharge. It's such a good feeling when you can get into smaller size clothes isn't it? It's cost me a fortune in new clothes - not complaining though!

FluffyBattleKitten · 17/08/2021 13:32

I'm still stalled. Started coach to 5k NHS app though. It's easy to do and is only half an hour daily if anyone is interested.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 18/08/2021 11:38

I'm using the sarah millican voice over and enjoying it.
I am hypermobile and get quite bad joint pain so I'm trying to take it really easy. I do each week twice or three times so I'm on week 2 and will be on week 2 for a while.

LargeInCharge · 24/08/2021 09:55

Thank you @Yourownpersonaljesus

I’m still having a battle with exercise. When I’m into it I keep at it….it’s just getting the motivation to start.

Weigh day’s here again.

Just over a pound lost. I’m surprised actually because an occasion required me to feast on pizza (again 😂) so I thought I’d maintain or gain a little.

Have a great week everyone.

I put 2 lb on - holiday then birthday. Oh well...

LargeInCharge · 24/08/2021 14:10

You’ve enjoyed a holiday and a birthday so I wouldn’t worry to be honest.
I hope you had a lovely time and happy birthday! @SuperLoudPoppingAction

That's great @LargeInCharge. Hope you enjoyed your holiday and birthday @SuperLoudPoppingAction. I can't stop eating chocolate atm and also have my birthday coming up so I don't think I'll be eating too healthily then.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 24/08/2021 17:50

I have had a lovely time - thanks! I dont think I ate loads more. One day was without tea entirely as we ran out of time between gallery and concert.

I just seem to put weight on at the drop of a hat. If it is all water weight from crisps and it drops off, i shall update you.

qwerty1972 · 28/08/2021 19:45

After a horrendous week one when I fell off the wagon, I pulled myself together and progress is being made. I've not stood on the scales yet, but 3cm off my waist and 2cm off my hips! It's a start. Now I just have to keep going...

Yourownpersonaljesus · 29/08/2021 18:09

That's a lot of centimetres lost @qwerty1972. You should be very proud of yourself.

qwerty1972 · 30/08/2021 08:19

Thank you @Yourownpersonaljesus. I tried again this morning - 1cm off the bust! I'm so pleased - it really encourages me to keep going. :)

Well done @qwerty1972 you’re doing great!

Welcome @hashbrownsandwich

It was my birthday too @Yourownpersonaljesus I hope you had a lovely birthday.

I missed last week’s weigh in…..we’ll avoided it more than missed. There were two occasions where I overindulged before said avoided weigh in and I didn’t want to lose motivation completely.

Well I finally made the Joe Wicks lentil bolognese recipe today as recommended by @MaryZe. On the recipe it says it's over 1000 calories a portion but by my calculation it's less than 300 for the bolognese without the pasta. I didn't add the walnuts or cheese and found that it made 4 decent portions instead of the two that the recipe says. I made it to freeze so only had a little taste but it was good. I'm still hovering around the 10 stone mark despite eating quite a lot of chocolate recently. I am still counting calories though so I don't go too mad. Here's what I ate today:
B - Porridge with seeds, a chopped up banana and a tiny squirt of honey.
L - couscous with roasted vegetables and reduced fat feta.
S - 4 chocolate malted milk biscuits (see what I mean)!
D - Reduced fat cheddar and red onion omelette with spinach, watercress, pepper, tomatoes and cucumber. I'm going to have some Ben and Jerry's moophoria ice bream in a minute.
Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend.

LargeInCharge · 14/09/2021 12:42

That sounds really nice @Yourownpersonaljesus and nice one at being almost 10 stone. Those chocolate malted milk biscuits are heaven, I avoid buying them though because I find it hard to limit them.

I’ve been writing notes to figure out why I’m losing slower/faster and this weeks loss has been helped by walking at speed for at least an hour a day and drinking water.

Have a great week everyone.

Well done on another successful week @LargeInCharge. I saw a friend at the weekend and she bought me 3 packets of chocolate malted milks as she knows I love them and don’t have an Asda near me. She didn’t know that I’m trying not to eat biscuits!

LargeInCharge · 14/09/2021 20:35

She’s a lovely friend, very thoughtful @Yourownpersonaljesus and if you have self control with them you’ll be fine.

I might pop some on my next online order and ask dh to hide them 😂
