Is it possible to drop a dress size in 6 weeks or am I just dreaming.......?

I haven't posted on this topic before because I have been hiding my body in a brown paper bag and hoping the baby weight would just fall off. Now my second (and last) child is 16 months old and I still have 25 lbs to lose. I would love to drop a dress (or rather tummy) size before Christmas so I can squeeze into my old partywear and save myself a fortune. Is this just wishful thinking? Has anyone got any tips for dieting, I am hopeless at this!

Definately! Wouldnt recommend doing for longer than the 6 weeks upto xmas but slimfast is your best bet if the idea of that makes you retch the special k diet works wonders! Also try to do a bit of excercise swimming is good for the abs if you can find time! If you need a diet buddy im here (only put on weight SINCE giving birth!)

I really need to lose weight too.. I put of 5 stone during my pregancy and have only been able to shift 3 and 1/2 so far and dd is now 7 months. What is the special k diet????

mumbear · 12/11/2007 10:59

check out specialk.com you basically eat a bowl for breakfast one at lunch with fruit for snacks or you can have special k bars (i think these are just oaty crap and sugar but gud if you really need a sugar fix!) And then a healthy tea. You can do it with crunchy nut cornflakes but watch the portion size. Its supposed to "kick start your diet" and you do it for 2 weeks but I have done it for longer. It helps if youve just reached a plateau and cant seem to shift anymore. Well done for losing 3.5 stone tho! how did you do that?

mustsleep · 12/11/2007 11:08

i put on three stone whilst preggers (and becuase i stopped smoking at the same time) would love to loose a stone or my belly at least

will support you with the special k diet (does it work with just plain cornflakes though think that the special k one tastes like cardboard)

will save a bit of cash on food too!!

mumbear · 12/11/2007 11:35

Dont see why not! Ive done it with weetabix. I think as long as you have something like a banana with it (to compensate for there being less sugar in cornflakes) to give you energy It should be fine! Corn flakes much cheaper than special k!

I am in....... I lost the first 3.5 stone by cutting my portion sizes and all snacks but have not lost any weight for the last 3 weeks even though i have been very good so need a different approach now.... the specialK diet sounds great though..

NiftyNanny · 12/11/2007 15:28

psssst if you just have a problem with your tummy check out M&S they have all sorts of control pants in, some of them are actually quite nice! I lost 5 1/2 stone so far and don't mind my figure apart from where the loose skin hangs on the inside of my thighs so sometimes I'll wear those cycling short things to hold it all in.
DP calls them "superpants", they're not sexy on their own but my bottom can now pull off a pencil skirt!

YOMO · 12/11/2007 16:50

well done niftynanny that is so good.... Hope i can do just as well....

dinny · 12/11/2007 16:57

Thanks for all your messages, it seems that the special K diet may be the way to go (better check that I can get them here in the States!). I have duly enrolled at my local gym and am aiming to go 2-3 times a week. DH is very supportive and says that if I go when he gets home from work he will bath the kids and put them to bed - now that IS an incentive!

Hi guys! Have stocked up my cupboards with cereal just wanted to let you know that Sainsburys sell their own version of special K called "balance" Its £1.60 something for a fairly big box compared to almost £3. Ive got to lose quite a few stone but shall we see if we can get a stone off by xmas?

IntergalacticWalrus · 14/11/2007 09:25

I'll be your diet buddy Twirl

I am doing slimming world, and have been really lame as late. I have a few work dos coming up, which means I will be sandwiched between lithe 21 year olds. (I'm obv the lardy filling)

I p0st 1.5lbs this week though, and the thought of all those photos taken at these dos is spurrinmgf me on!

(I lost a stonbne in 5 weeks once, by doing SW)

YOMO · 14/11/2007 13:44

A stone by chrismas sounds great i am munching a cereal bar instead of having a bowl at the moment as i have run out of milk....

mumbear · 14/11/2007 13:59

Good start! Am suprised at how full I am eating cereal. I havnt even gone looking for that box of wispas DP has hidden from me

Twirl · 14/11/2007 15:21

Sorry for delay...I only get online when it is the afternoon in the UK, it is mid-morning here.
I need to lose 2 stone (would be happy with 1 1/2 though) and am going to start on friday as that is the first day I can make it to the gym. All those who are joining in, why don't we report in on a friday how much we have lost that week - no need to say how much we weigh now or anything personal like that, just state how much we are trying to lose overall and what we have lost that week. It will be a big incentive to me if I feel I am reporting in each week! What do you think?

Sounds good to me. I am unable to go to a gym, but am going to go walking every day as this doesn't cost a bean...
