Six Sone (minimum) to lose

I've been hugely overweight for at least ten years, but the last two years I'm the worst I've ever been.

My main issue is complete lack of motivation and willpower.

I have tried low carb diets in the past but they are definitely not something I can get on with. Had success previously (lost two stone, put it back on again) with Slimming World, so doing that again.

Starting with a Personal Trainer on Monday but I'm so embarrassed. Trainer sounds lovely and a specialist in helping with weight loss, but I'm scared about going to a gym and the disapproving looks I'll get.

Has anyone had success with a Personal Trainer? I know losing weight is about watching what you eat, but I need to increase my fitness too.

Going to the gym with a PT means you’re already many steps ahead of those still sitting on the sofa!

Also, (in my experience) people at the gym are too self-absorbed to really notice any one else, or will be envious you have the PT to get maximum results!

You’ve totally got this 💪

Honestly, people won’t be disapproving at the gym. Most people are either feeling self conscious themselves, focussing on working really hard or checking themselves out in the mirror! I’m mostly trying not to feel like I’m about to keel over.

Working with a PT is such a good thing to do. I made so much progress when I had mine and I never looked better. I didn’t have much to lose but it totally changed the shape of my body.

Once you’ve had a session or two I’m sure you’ll feel more confident at the gym. Really good luck. Flowers

I’m also not suited to low carb. So many of the foods I love are carbs and they can absolutely be part of a healthy diet. I just measure the portions so I’m not eating too much.

Hi Op are you rejoining Slimming World or doing it on your own?

I actually have more than you to lose but need to get a grip now. Some groups are moving to weigh and go,with zoom after, next week.
I know how you feel about the gym but just think how much easier it will be after you've been even once.

Goodluck!

Hi. I did SW for about a year previously and I still have my journal and a lot of the recipe books. I know it's not as good as actually doing the sessions but I'm happy with my knowledge from when I did it before as I know it worked back then.

Sounds good to me. If you are on Facebook there are a couple of groups that you can find out current syns from if needed.

Stellaris22 · 09/04/2021 08:05

That would be really useful as I've stopped eating beef so I knowing the syn value of vegan items would be great. Thanks for the tip.

Absolutely don't be scared of looks yoi get in gyms. Contrary to popular tales, most people in gyms are not dickheads. 😁

Go, sweat, huff, enjoy the results!
