Weight loss and socialising/parties

So I’m on a large weight loss journey; am about 2 stone down with approx 5 more to go. It’s easy to loose at the moment because restaurants aren’t open and we can’t have people round for dinner.

Next weekend we are going to start socialising again, having people round in the garden for snacks and drinks, which is likely to become a regular thing. Then restaurants will open and I’ll be likely to start going out with friends for food and drinks again.

All social events revolve around food and drink. Partly the reason I got into this mess in the first place. Any tips for staying in control? Would hat to undo all my hard work and have so much further to go still.

People will comment, but I basically eat a healthy meal before the party so I'm full and then just nibble on a few carrot sticks and tell everyone I've eaten. Works for bbq and buffets but obvs not a dinner party.

How often are these?

I have a day off each week for things like these. Basically working on sustainable way to eat for ever (it's how I used to eat before it all went wrong ha). So counting 6 days a week, moving some calories towards that day, having lower cal day before the day off (I don't know why it works for me) and be bit conscious about the day itself, but not obsessively.
So I have light lunch and no snack, but then just enjoy "normal" non weightloss dinner and drinks.

All this isn't just about losing weight but also about building habits to keep it off. It doesn't have to undo your weightloss at all.

Good job on loss so far!!!!

Thanks both.
Realistically I can keep it down to once a week, and having an evening off once a week doesn’t sound too awful. I just hope I can limit myself, I tend to be a bit all or nothing 😭

Don’t panic - it doesn’t have to be a disaster. For me the key is no alcohol and drinking plenty of water so I am less likely to be tempted.

You will see. Maybe first few times will not go particularly amazingly, but then you suddenly realise you are making bit better decisions without thinking about it too much. So not eating 10 dough balls, but only 5 and offering rest to share, for example. Small things which will stay with you.
Plus not every week is the same.
One week I have pizza and garlic bread, next week I have veg and some lovely fish.

Do NOT think of it as "cheat day" or "treat day". Firstly, you ain't cheating anything, secondly, it's not treat, it's just different normal. This really helped me not to overdo it.
