Too scared to get on the scales

Just that really. I know it will be bad - my clothes don't fit and I can feel the extra weight but I am just too scared to do it as I know it will make me feel even angrier with myself. It has all gone on in the last year. I used to go out with a cycling club, do group exercise classes, run half marathons. I have drowned myself in booze and food over the last year.

I'm being a wimp. I know. Anyone feel similar or able to give me a kick up the arse?

I recognise that feeling. I do it first thing in the morning, naked.

It's tough... speaking as someone who stood on the scales last September for the first time in about 15 years.. .
But once you can quantify the issue, you can put a plan in place to deal with it. Break it down into small milestones and work towards your bigger goal. It's a bit like training for a half marathon..... there's loads of support here for however you might want to tackle it.
Good luck...

Thanks. Yes, knowing the reality will help me deal with it effectively. I just know I will find that reality upsetting! Still, head in the sand approach rarely works for anything...

You don't have to weigh if you really feel it will be bad for your morale.

Why not get a length of string and wrap it round your waist and mark it, or a belt, or a tape measure. Use that as your starting point, then start to eat more healthily and be more active. If a month, take the same measurement and see how you're doing. Maybe then you'll be ready to weigh, maybe not.

Weight is just one form of measurement.
