What's your opinion?

OP posts:
Zig4zag · 20/03/2021 21:50

I'm fat and know much more about nutrition than skinny gym instructors promoting protein shakes.

BigButtons · 20/03/2021 22:50

And? -it’s not healthy being fat- nothing to brag about.
SchrodingersImmigrant · 20/03/2021 22:51

@Giantrooster

Your poor dh, sympathies 😁.
He eats lamb brains. We are even😂😂😂
Zig4zag · 20/03/2021 23:05

Where did I say I was proud to be fat or the being fat was anything to brag about?
I certainly wasn't bragging about my weight.

Giantrooster · 20/03/2021 23:20

SchrodingersImmigrant 🤮 LTB that's worse than stinky cheese. Can just picture it 'wait a minute dear you'll get your kiss, just need to remove some cerebellum from the molars' 🤮 shutters 😂

Actually Zig4zag wasn't bragging but giving a valid answer.

BigButtons · 20/03/2021 23:39

I don’t think that’s in anyway a valid answer. Knowing about nutrition but still being fat is meaningless. Like sitting on a couch and reading up about hiit.

I don’t think that’s the same. My PT has to demo exercises and do them with me. A dietician wouldn’t be eating dinner with me, only advising me on what I needed to eat based on their professional training.
BigButtons · 20/03/2021 23:46

We can all read up about Nutrition and exercises.Actually acting in your knowledge is another thing.

PurpleDaisies · 20/03/2021 23:47

That doesn’t make you a qualified dietician though.
SchrodingersImmigrant · 20/03/2021 23:50

Oh my god😂😂😂 We have a comedy genious amongst us

SchrodingersImmigrant · 20/03/2021 23:50

Not sarcasm!

BigButtons · 20/03/2021 23:53

@PurpleDaisies a fat dietician is not a good dietician.

Giantrooster · 20/03/2021 23:54

It bloody well sounded sarcastic 😂😂.

But that's infinitely better than fat shaming 🙄.

PurpleDaisies · 20/03/2021 23:56

Because being fat means you forget all your training?

What about fat doctors who give advice about the health benefits of losing weight? Or is it just dieticians you’ve got this hang up about?

BigButtons · 21/03/2021 00:03

@PurpleDaisies no one who is fat has the right to tell anyone how not to be fat. They could say something along the lines of”you could do this but as you can see I don’t”

Zig4zag · 21/03/2021 00:09

To me being good at eating well is very different to a knowledge of nutrition. I know all about Krebs cycles and various actions of vitamins and nutrients but unfortunately my degree didn't come with a certificate and a bottomless pit of willpower.

PurpleDaisies · 21/03/2021 00:09
@PurpleDaisies no one who is fat has the right to tell anyone how not to be fat. They could say something along the lines of”you could do this but as you can see I don’t”
That can’t be an actual serous suggestion.

What about people who are medically underweight? Are they allowed to give dietary advice?

What about people with really shit diets who have stated in the healthy bmi range?

NotAPanda · 21/03/2021 00:11

Rationally I should but my brain wouldn’t accept it OwO

sausagedogststandupandtakeover · 21/03/2021 00:12
@PurpleDaisies a fat dietician is not a good dietician.
How does their ability / motivation to follow their own advice make them any less able to advise and support others? I wonder how many people might look at a skinny dietician and think "well you've no idea what it's like to be overweight so I don't want to listen to your do-gooding advice"?

Dieticians are qualified health care professionals. Not "lifestyle gurus"

JackieWeaverFever · 21/03/2021 00:14

Nope.

PickAChew · 21/03/2021 00:14

No.

Zig4zag · 21/03/2021 00:18

Also nutrition is about more than just weight. Most fat people will get referred to a slimming club before a dietician.

LyndaSnellMBE · 21/03/2021 00:29

No I wouldn’t

FiveShelties · 21/03/2021 04:21
