On 450 calories today and need some help getting through this evening!

I'm on 1,000 calories a day now. Dropped from 1,200 after losing weight at that and then plateauing. However on a Monday I only taken in 450 calories to make up for the extra calories I usually eat at the weekend. It's not impossible - I make a soup with some protein in it, blend it, and drink it throughout the day.

Luckily I don't have any tempting food in the house (lots of chocolate but I'm more of a savoury person and am also good at resisting temptation). However I'm due to do a food shop after work this evening and I will need some help and motivation not to throw myself on the yogurts and fruit when I get back home.

Can anyone share their tips to avoid temptation when you're hungry? I will be going to be early and watching TV to chill before hand. But any tips to avoid stepping into the kitchen and undoing the hard work from today? Thank you!

Distraction, play a game with the kids or something.

This is a very disturbed eating pattern. Please get help.

gamerchick · 08/03/2021 17:39

You're joking right? Christ.

Kittykat93 · 08/03/2021 17:39

I dunno but your diet doesn't sound healthy..why are you on such low calories???

OohImBlindedByTheLights · 08/03/2021 17:40

Sorry OP, but I agree with @murbblurb that is not healthy.

I'm on a high protein diet just now and I lost 3lbs last week. The way I've been told is aim for 1g of protein for each lb you weigh. I stick to 1550 calories a day with 150g protein, 150g carbs and 50g fat. That is more sustainable and I will lose weight without losing muscle and keeping myself toned.

ThePricklySheep · 08/03/2021 17:41

It’s a bit sad when yoghurt and fruit are forbidden. 450 calories in one day is very, very low.

DitchedBitch · 08/03/2021 17:44

We're all different. What works for one person won't work for another.

Sounds like she has found a way that works for her.

Ginnymweasley · 08/03/2021 17:46

That is incredibly low calorie intake. Even the most sedentary person will need more than that for healthy bodily processes. It's sounds dangerous disordered eating tbh.

middleager · 08/03/2021 17:46

This isn't healthy OP.

ThePricklySheep · 08/03/2021 17:46

Doesn’t sound like it is working right now though?
TeeBee · 08/03/2021 17:47

That sounds like disordered eating. Your body needs fuel. That is a very low amount of calories. Are you exercising? This will not fuel you for that.

TeeBee · 08/03/2021 17:48

Maybe its working to lose weight but its not keeping her body working properly, is it?
Lougle · 08/03/2021 17:49

You do realise that for people with eating disorders, 2 days of less than 500 calories is justification for going to A&E? Your blood chemistry will get seriously deranged.

Nobody should be encouraging this.

BrownEyedGirl80 · 08/03/2021 17:50

You sound obsessed.Im dieting currently but wouldn't dream of starving myself due to eating a bit more at weekends.Do you exercise aswell?

Kittykat93 · 08/03/2021 17:50

It isn't working for her though is it?? Shes fucking starving and worried about going food shopping incase she ends up eating some fruit or yoghurt...that's really sad and not normal.

Goawayquickly · 08/03/2021 17:52

Dangerously low calories, please eat properly. This is disordered eating and you’re harming yourself.

Biscusting · 08/03/2021 17:53

You can fast for a whole day and not die, in fact there is scientific evidence it’s actually good for you.

I don’t think 450 calories just for one day is unreasonable at all.

OP, I would avoid fruit and yogurt to be honest, only because of the sugar crash, you’ll feel hungrier afterwards. I would have some veg, stir fried broccoli and/or protein or something to that effect.

Oly4 · 08/03/2021 17:55

Oh dear, this isn’t right. Fruit and yoghurt are healthy and full of vitamins

Kittykat93 · 08/03/2021 17:55

Yes fasting for a day or so is okay, but not if on the other days op is only eating a max of 1000 calories, which is still very low. Surely you can see this isn't a normal and healthy relationship with food ?

Ginnymweasley · 08/03/2021 17:55

It's really dangerous to claim that this "is working for her" she is starving herself. Your body needs food, it's needs food just to do it's basic functions. Food is fuel. No way can you get enough protein, fats, cards and nutrients from 1 soup eaten through the day. Most people's bodies burn more than 1000 calories on a sedentary day that is just through your body functioning to keep you alive.

Yes.

The drop from 1200 to 1000 is worrying on its own, let alone having only 450 cals a day.

It simply isn't enough to fuel your body, your brain, your whole metabolism.

Exercise & move more, so you can then eat at a healthy level.

midgedude · 08/03/2021 18:00

Small person , post menopausal, low muscle and low exercise may actually be looking at 1000 a day to lose weight

I would scratch the 450 target though. Long term having weekends with more calories is quite fine

EatTheMince · 08/03/2021 18:00

Is this a one off or something you do every Monday?

I am pretty tiny and have to really limit my calories to lose weight so I do get it but it's not healthy.

Could you eat more but do some exercise too?

PickAChew · 08/03/2021 18:02

Crikey. Eat some food.
