Weight Watchers & Slimming World l know about/understand but please can someone explain Noom to me please?

It's an app, free trial for a fortnight then £100 ish for 4-6 months. Each day you weigh yourself and you log all your food. You get a goal coach who keeps in touch with you and directed coaching in changing your mindset to support you in making psychological changes, such as breaking negative patterns of thinking around food. The food logging is calorie counted and you are set targets. This week's work for me has been to do with dealing with plateaus in weight loss and working on new scripts for difficult situations. I've lost 13lb in 5 weeks and feel really positive.I"d highly recommend giving it a go.

I subscribed and ran through the various intros and stuff, got all the blurb about "not a diet, a lifestyle" and "tailored to you"... then it put me on a 1200 a day calorie diet. Yeah, I know I can lose weight if I eat 1200 calories a day thanks, and I also have a pretty good understanding of why I won't stick to a 1200 a day diet long term. I wanted help with finding a plan/change that works for me but the app never even asked the questions.

I basically found it to be lots of friendly, chatty little messages interrupting my day to tell me stuff I already know as if it was going to be an amazing life changing revelation. It's very like being lectured at enthusiastically by a young relation back home for their first summer after uni. Grin
