Can anyone who has lost weight tell me the brilliant side effects?!

So, I want to loose weight, I need to get healthy and fit back into my wardrobe!!

Any other motivation for nice things that happened? I often have swollen feet and hands, so I'm hoping this might change. I have some shoes that are too tight I'd like to wear again.....

I hate the way I wobble when I run so hoping this might change.

Any other things you noticed??

Actually, another couple of nice side effects is that my spending on food has gone right down and that I am noticing that there is so much less packaging to deal with! Eating better has meant so much less processed foods, and more plant-based, so buying completely free of packaging a lot of the time. So in addition to feeling better, I have a smaller impact on the environment (as long as I keep an eye on the food miles as well as the packaging) -yay!

I can wear light support triangle bras and get away with it now, rather than some heavy armour for d cups. I have more choice in clothing, and they feel better on my body. My knee high boots are looser. My skin is better because of the veg I'm eating. And because of all the strength training I'm stronger, I don't get back pains anymore.

Another thing I've noticed - I don't do that sort of groan sound when I get up from the sofa. I can just move so much easily and sort of powerfully/purposefully.

Not that I was really overweight before (I wasn't) but I was really unhealthy.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 04/03/2021 18:51

Another one I realised.

You just want to do things. Just want to go and explore x and y interesting things in the area. Or even just gardening. Just want to move kind of. Once ut hits you, you realise there is just bit more positivity with it

What brilliant responses, thank you! When I'm feeling disillusioned I read back over them. And picture myself in a jumpsuit I bought, which is just so snug right now it looks terrible but I'm hoping in a couple of months it will look better!

I lost around 3 stone in 2016/17 and have kept it off (12 to 9). By far the most noticeable thing for me is that doing stuff is just far less work. I'm a shade under 5ft and EVERYTHING felt like hard work. It was just the effort of hauling myself about as it turns out and i love the extra energy

The floorboards creak less when I'm sneaking out of the babies room and they don't wake up!

ExConstance · 08/03/2021 12:07

Has anyone mentioned better sex?

justilou1 · 08/03/2021 12:22

I lost 60kgs. I can tell you that I have less inflammation all over. My skin tone and colour has improved all over. I look at least ten years younger now than I did fifteen years ago. My feet don't hurt when I get out of bed. I don't huff and puff when I go upstairs. (or downstairs, or get off the couch...). I don't feel like I am drowning when I am lying down. My focus is better (probably because I have adequate oxygen). My blood work is fabulous. (I'm 49, and have to get checks done..). My thyroid function is stable for the first time since I was 28. I don't feel the need to graze mindlessly, so I spend/waste less money on crap food. While I definitely look better in clothes now, I don't waste money on clothes that I never wear either. I used to try and find things that made me happy or look better, but nothing did, so I just wore the same old sacks. Now I wear what I like - and have a much better idea of what suits me for the first time in my life.

The thing I noticed, was after losing 2 stone (5 more to go), I realised I'd forgotten something at the till when I already had my stuff on the conveyor - I jogged to get it and back, felt super bouncy as I did so, and wasn't even slightly out of breath when I got back to the till.

It's the little stuff like that for me, just feeling that little bit lighter on my feet as I move around.

Oh, and my stomach not rubbing on the steering wheel.

LunaNorth · 08/03/2021 12:37

I feel in control.
I don’t have to try multiple outfits on every morning.
I don’t have to think too much about what I wear. Any old pair of jeans and a t-shirt will be fine.
I feel lighter. Sounds obvious, but I don’t feel like I’m lumbering when I go running.
I’m more comfortable. Nothing digging in, rubbing, etc.
I feel and look younger especially from behind
I’ve got my cheekbones back.
Sex is much better as I’m not self-conscious.
Yoga is miles easier without chub rolls in the way.
I have more energy.

changingnames786 · 08/03/2021 18:44

I feel like it's a bit more effortless to look good, maybe it's more of a confidence thing but I don't put as much effort on make up and dressing as I feel I look a bit more put together naturally and don't have to overthink as much.

Tambourinetunes · 08/03/2021 18:52

It is so much easier to move and makes me feel grateful everyday.
Reduced pain.
Clothes not being uncomfortable.
Easier to choose clothes, previously I just thought that will do.
Feeling proud of my achievement when I look in the mirror (not amazing but so much better)
I thought I was just old and waiting to die tbh, I didn’t think I could/would get to this point.
The feeling of achievement when I can do exercise I have never been able to do.

I have lost a few stone and still have 10lbs to go to be where I want to be.

Noshowlomo · 08/03/2021 20:36

God you’re all inspiring!

EatTheMince · 08/03/2021 20:48

I found my cheekbones.

I found I enjoy exercise and am pretty good at it. It's given me a social life and a hobby and something for me outside of the house.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 08/03/2021 21:31

I just went to sainsburys and bought some size 14 jeans, and they fit!

This time last year I was buying size 22 stretchy dresses when we had our lovely March heatwave.

I absolutely bloody love being able to buy clothes that don't look like they could double as a tent!!

Sweetener12 · 09/03/2021 10:07

when I was thinner I loved every single photo of me. Absolutely everything look great! Now I have to edit my pictures removing chubby cheeks in Photodiva here and there, so that's why I'm losing weight again haha

changingnames786 · 09/03/2021 11:11

@Sweetener12 I think that's the hardest part of weight gain, when it changes your face and makes you look different, your face is such a part of your identity and when I had a puffier face I just didn't feel like me any more.
